Nintendo has been teasing The Legend of Zelda fans with a Breath of the Wild sequel for some time. A trailer even appeared last June, showing off just a bit of what fans are calling Breath of the Wild 2. Since then, the company has stayed pretty silent about the game. However, a new leak on Twitter may point toward the game’s official title: Breath of Evil. But will that actually be Breath of the Wild 2‘s new name?

The teaser trailer for Breath of the Wild 2 was much darker than its predecessor, which has led to a lot of speculation that the game itself will be darker, too. Because of that, a title like Breath of Evil could make sense. The biggest question is whether the Zelda leak discovered on Twitter has merit or not.

Rumors circulated that Breath of the Wild 2 would be a Holiday 2020 release, which doesn’t seem likely now that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is releasing in November as a Breath of the Wild prequel. The leak points to the next Legend of Zelda game being featured in a yet-unannounced Nintendo Direct in October. That would point to Nintendo unveiling a new update over a year after it first showed off the teaser for Breath of the Wild 2. This could make sense, timing wise, if Nintendo is planning to release the game as part of The Legend of Zelda‘s 35th Anniversary next year.

Breath Of Evil May Not Be Breath Of The Wild 2’s Title

The timing of a new Breath of the Wild 2 update makes sense, but fake Nintendo Direct leaks are rampant and usually inaccurate. Even ignoring the fact that Breath of Evil sounds like a bad fan-fiction title, looking at the other games released in the leak makes the entire thing seem unlikely. A Dragon Quest Anthology of DQ 4, 5, and 6 is something the Dragon Quest community routinely asks for on Switch, and Mario fans have been eager for a Super Mario Galaxy 2 remaster. This just seems like the leak is baiting hopeful fandoms.

Skepticism on Breath of the Wild 2‘s new title is pretty rife on social media. After countless Nintendo Direct leaks have been proven false, it’s hard to believe any of them lately. Legend of Zelda fans remain hopeful that new information regarding Breath of the Wild 2 will release soon, despite the game’s producer saying updates aren’t coming for a while. However, any news related to the latest leak, or the Breath of Evil title, should be taken with a grain of salt.

Until Nintendo officially announces a title for Breath of the Wild 2, fans only have rumors. A title like Breath of Evil seems unlikely, but anything is possible with Nintendo. In the meantime, The Legend of Zelda fans can look forward to Age of Calamity releasing in November.
