Resident Evil Village will be the next major entry in Capcom’s iconic survival-horror series, picking up where RE7: Biohazard left off in 2017. The publisher recently revealed a series of features and modes players should expect from the May release during a Resident Evil Showcase. While Resident Evil Village will bring a new, blood-curdling experience to the more powerful consoles and PC, Capcom is also rumored to be planning a Nintendo Switch timed-exclusive Resident Evil game.

Nintendo’s hybrid console has lacked any major RE release since the cloud version of Resident Evil 7 in 2018, as neither of the latest Resident Evil remakes have been ported to Switch. However, a new leak claims the company will resurrect the franchise on Switch as early as this year.

Trusted Capcom leaker AestheticGamer alleged the company will be dusting off the Resident Evil: Revelations franchise, which debuted as an exclusive for Nintendo 3DS in 2012. Its sequel, RE: Revelations 2, launched in 2015 (though not as a Nintendo exclusive). AestheticGamer claimed Capcom is working on a new game called “Resident Evil Outrage,” which was originally supposed to be RE: Revelations 3 and will “almost definitely” be a Switch timed exclusive.

Resident Evil Outrage Could Be Capcom’s Next Switch-Exclusive Game

Capcom has yet to confirm any plans for a Switch-exclusive Resident Evil game, but AestheticGamer has a proven track record of leaking accurate information about the franchise. They claimed Capcom is planning to release Resident Evil Outrage in late 2021 or early 2022 and that it will be announced “later this year.” The leaker didn’t provide any explicit details about what its gameplay might be like or where its plot will take place in the RE timeline, but they did drop a few hints at what Capcom is thinking for the alleged release.

Since Resident Evil Outrage was supposedly originally RE: Revelations 3, it could end up resembling the spin-off series and potentially even continuing its narrative. The most recent Revelations game was set between RE5 and RE6 and gave players control of Claire Redfield and Barry Burton. Outrage‘s name change could suggest Capcom will go a different direction with the rumored Nintendo Switch timed exclusive, however. If AestheticGamer’s leaks are accurate, fans should get an official word about the title around the time Resident Evil Village is released.
