Top Gun can be watched online, but the action movie is not currently available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu in the US. Released in 1986, the Tony Scott movie starred Tom Cruise as Lieutenant Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a U.S. Navy pilot. Despite receiving a mixed response from critics, the film was a box office success and has cemented itself as a classic for its long-lasting legacy. Top Gun, based on an article published in California magazine, also starred Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, and Anthony Edwards in prominent roles.

Top Gun follows Maverick after his reckless behavior led to his superiors forcing him to go to TOPGUN, a Naval Fighter Weapons School. Nick “Goose” Bradshaw (Edwards) is also sent to the flight school. While there, Maverick finds himself at odds with the other pilots, especially “Iceman,” LT Tom Kazansky (Kilmer). And in addition to trying to prove himself as the best fighter pilot in the group, Maverick also has his sights set on one of the flight instructors, Charlotte Blackwood (McGillis).

Over 30 years after Top Gun released, the action drama will finally get an official sequel; Top Gun: Maverick is directed by Joseph Kosinski and sees the return of Cruise and Kilmer in their original roles. The rest of the cast includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris. Those excited for the release of the sequel may want to revisit Top Gun but they won’t find it on some of the most popular streaming services.

Top Gun Isn’t on Netflix, Prime, Or Hulu

Top Gun isn’t currently included in U.S. subscriptions of Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu. The same goes for U.K. viewers as of the time of writing. Canada, however, has access to Top Gun through Amazon Prime. It’s a bit surprising that none of the big streamers acquired access to the 1986 classic ahead of the release of the sequel. The movie is airing on cable TV through the Paramount Network but there are plenty of other ways to watch Top Gun.
