It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia “The Gang Goes To Jersey Shore” sees the crew take a holiday that goes predictably awry. It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia debuted in 2005 on FX and is probably the bleakest sitcom on TV. It revolves around the gang who run dive bar Paddy’s Pub, who are all selfish, prejudiced, self-loathing, and hate-filled losers who have – somehow – become strangely loveable too. That’s clearly the case for fans of the series since it’s run for fourteen seasons and counting.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s cast have been busy outside the show too. Charlie Day has appeared in both the Pacific Rim and Horrible Bosses’ franchises, Kaitlin Olson had her own sitcom with The Mick, Glenn Howerton has A.P. Bio, and Rob McElhenney launched Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet in 2020. Of course, Danny DeVito was already a comedy icon before the series and has recently appeared in movies like Jumanji: The Next Level.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia season 7 famously featured McElhenny gaining a lot of weight to play Mac, which became a plot point during the series. He later went in the opposite direction by getting impressively ripped for season 13. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia episode 2 “The Gang Goes To Jersey Shore” is a favorite from season 7, and finds the crew heading down to Jersey Shore for a vacation after Dennis and Dee become nostalgic for the time they spent there and insist it’s nothing like the show Jersey Shore; Charlie is also excited as he’s never seen the ocean.

Of course, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia “The Gang Goes To Jersey Shore” quickly turns into a nightmare. Dee and Dennis find it’s nothing like they remember, with Dee getting a piece of hair ripped from her scalp on a ride while the siblings’ later get dragged into a liquor store robbery after smoking angel dust. Frank buys a rum ham so he and Mac decide to float in the ocean and eat it in peace; needless to say, they fall asleep and find themselves floating the middle of the ocean. Frank later weeps as the ham is lost at sea, just like Wilson in Cast Away. They later get rescued by “guidos” and get to have an awesome party.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia “The Gang Goes To Jersey Shore” also features Charlie having a magical time, running into The Waitress and the two having fun picking out trash. However, she wakes up on the beach next to Charlie with no memory, having smoked ecstasy the day before; she’s also disgusted to learn she spent so much time with him and quickly runs off. Instead of heartache, Charlie just considers it “summer love.” At the end of the trip, Charlie, Mac, and Frank had a good time, while Dennis and Dee are traumatized and want to leave immediately; three of five of the gang being happy is a good ratio for the show.
