Jack Black becomes Captain America by dancing in a speedo to MC Hammer and Eminem. Chris Evans played Steve Rogers, the first Captain America in the MCU, making his debut in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Anthony Mackie, who has played Steve’s loyal best friend, Sam Wilson, a.k.a., Falcon since 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier recently made his debut as the newest iteration of Captain America. Sam finally accepted the Captain America mantle that Steve passed on to him in the season finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Captain America is an iconic character in MCU lore, beloved by fans worldwide.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

One of the most notable visual representations of Captain America’s journey from skinny Steve to Sam to John Walker (Wyatt Rusell) and back to Sam is Captain America’s iconic shield. There was hardly a moment that Steve’s Cap wouldn’t utilize the shield in battle, but he never used it to kill until a pivotal fight with Tony Stark in 2014’s Captain America: Civil War. Steve abandoned the shield after coming close to delivering a killing blow to Tony, and only used it again after Tony fixed it up for him in Avengers: Endgame. Sam decided to give up the shield after old man Steve gave it to him during the finale of Endgame. Sam spent the entirety of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier feeling extremely conflicted about taking up the Captain America mantle.

Actor and comedian, Jack Black, posted his own interpretation of Captain America, complete with the iconic shield and background music from MC Hammer and Eminem. The video is utterly hilarious, and even has an appearance from another famous Avengers weapon. Check out the entire video below:

Black has created other comedic MCU tributes in the past, including his hilarious recreation of the “Immigrant Song,” moment from Thor: Ragnarok. The School of Rock actor’s Captain America video definitely demonstrates that he’s worthy of the shield and Mjolnir. Worthiness has always been a major theme with the character of Captain America. Steve demonstrated again and again that he was worthy of the title because he only sought strength to help others and not himself. It was this trait that made him worthy enough to wield Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir.

It made perfect sense that Steve chose to pass the shield on to Sam, who also never actively sought out power and strength for himself. The fact that Sam initially rejected the shield proved exactly why he was worthy of the shield and the mantle of Captain America. It was only when John Walker used the shield to murder a Flag Smasher that Sam realized that he had to become Captain America, so the sacrifices of those who suffered before him, especially Isaiah Bradley, wouldn’t be in vain.

Sam will continue the legacy that began with Steve in Captain America: The First Avenger with the upcoming MCU project Captain America 4. In the interim, one question remains. When is Jack Black getting his MCU cameo?
