John Krasinski has had a very eventful career, so here’s where else you may have seen the Jack Ryan star. The character of Jack Ryan was created by author Tom Clancy and has been played by multiple actors. Ryan made his screen debut in The Hunt For Red October, where he was played by Alec Baldwin. Baldwin was supposed to reprise the role for 1992’s Patriot Games, but opted out and was replaced by Harrison Ford. The success of the film quickly led to Ford returning for Clear And Present Danger, which was an even bigger hit.

Ford was supposed to return for a third time with The Sum Of All Fears but bowed out over script issues. Paramount decided to soft reboot the franchise and portray a younger version of Ryan and Ben Affleck was cast. The movie was a hit, but while there were plans for Affleck to return the franchise was rebooted – once again – in 2014, with Chris Pine inheriting the part for Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. While the movie received decent reviews it was only a modest success, so no sequels followed. John Krasinski is the latest actor to pick up the mantle with Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series.

He played a lead role in romcom License To Wed alongside Robin Williams, It’s Complicated and 2010’s Away We Go for director Sam Mendes. He was in the running to play Captain America in the MCU but lost out to Chris Evans. John Krasinski wrote and directed his first film with 2009’s Brief Interviews With Hideous Men, and later helmed The Hollars starring Anna Kendrick and Richard Jenkins. In 2016 he played a main role in Michael Bay’s war film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, which marked a major departure from the image audiences had of Krasinski as Jim from The Office. He swerved again by starring and directing in A Quiet Place, the acclaimed horror film from 2018. The movie took place in a world overrun by creatures that hunt by sound, and a combination of its unique premise, nerve-shredding tension, and great acting made it a huge hit worldwide.

Aside from returning for Jack Ryan season 2, John Krasinski’s upcoming projects including A Quiet Place 2, which is set to expand the mythology of the world. Amazon has also renewed Jack Ryan for a third season.
