Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor costume is revealed in new Thor: Love and Thunder promo art. Director Taika Waititi returns to the MCU after helming Thor: Ragnarok in 2017, essentially saving the God of Thunder’s sub-franchise. However, this time, he’s going bigger for the Chris Hemsworth-led blockbuster, which will also see the official return of Portman’s Foster since 2014’s Thor: The Dark World.

The coronavirus pandemic delayed Marvel Studios’ whole Phase 4 slate, including Thor: Love and Thunder, having significantly pushed back both its production and release date. The project is set for a July 2022 premiere with principal photography and reshoots now finished. Plot details are still tightly under wraps, specifically concerning Thor’s arc in the film. But, some aspects of its narrative have already been officially announced, including Foster getting her superhero persona as Mighty Thor. Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to mine inspiration from Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor series that ran from 2015 to 2018 for this particular plotline, although other specifics remain unknown.

While Marvel Studios and people involved in the production have been tight-lipped about the film, some promotional items for Thor: Love and Thunder have made it online, giving fans an idea of what to expect from the project. The new promotional art for the movie (via @BRMarvelNews) reveals the best look at Foster’s Mighty Thor armor, complete with the rebuilt Mjölnir. Another illustration shows the God of Thunder’s updated costume, which is now bright blue and gold. Both characters sport red capes. Check out the images below:

Both Foster and Thor’s new looks check out with the previously released group illustration featuring the pair plus Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson). However, this latest image offers a more straightforward, more detailed look at both characters’ respective costumes. However, the most exciting reveal from this is Foster’s rebuilt Mjölnir. For context, the God of Thunder’s magical hammer was destroyed by his sister, Hela (Cate Blanchett), early on in Thor: Ragnarok. After that, Thor was forced to function without the weapon. In Avengers: Infinity War, he got Stormbreaker but was briefly reunited in Avengers: Endgame with Mjölnir from the 2014 Thor: The Dark World timeline. Captain America (Chris Evans) had to return it to its original time and place setting to not create an alternate timeline. So, with the Sacred Timeline without the hammer, it’s curious where and how Foster got a hold of her Mjölnir.

These new illustrations have been released on the heels of a separate BTS image of Thompson wearing her new Valkyrie costume. It’s unclear when and where the selfie was taken since the Asgardian warrior is also rumored to appear in The Marvels. But like Foster and Thor’s illustrations, her get-up checks out with the previously released promotional art for Thor: Love and Thunder. There is no indication yet when Marvel Studios is planning to drop the blockbuster’s first trailer. But with just a few months before it hits theaters, it’s safe to say that marketing for it will gradually begin soon.
