Jennifer Coolidge will officially be returning The White Lotus season 2. Coolidge starred as Tanya McQuoid in season 1, a misunderstood, lonely woman who lacks social cues and never says no to a drink. She was one of the guests at the White Lotus resort in the season 1 setting of Hawaiʻi, and became particularly close with the spa employee Belinda Lindsey (Natasha Rothwell). Tanya even offered to fund Belinda’s future business, before suddenly backing out.

Now, Variety reports that Coolidge has officially signed on to star in The White Lotus season 2 as the only returning regular actor. HBO had previously been hesitant to confirm her role in the wealth satire series, despite the actor’s rumored return. This time around, The White Lotus will center on guests staying at a luxury resort in Italy, and production on The White Lotus season 2 has officially begun in Sicily.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Coolidge was one of the most memorable parts of The White Lotus season 1, as her goofy character and energetic performance naturally stole the show. The role of Tanya earned the Legally Blonde actress nominations for the Golden Globes, the Critics’ Choice Awards, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. In The White Lotus season 2, Coolidge will join series newcomers Aubrey Plaza (Parks & Recreation), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), and F. Murray Abraham (Scarface). HBO Max faces high fan expectations for season 2, which will strive to live up to its off-the-wall predecessor. However, keeping a fan favorite like Coolidge in the cast is definitely a step in the right direction from The White Lotus showrunners.
