As much as JWoww’s recent engagement to Zack “24” Carpinello was a shock to fans, it was a surprise to her fellow Jersey Shore roommates as well. In a recent interview, Pauly D revealed that he, along with the rest of the cast, had no idea Zack was planning to propose. Even after the engagement had taken place, the cast was left in the dark about it for quite some time. JWoww and Zack got engaged on the top of the Empire State Building in New York City in late February.

The engaged couple have been dating on and off for nearly two years. At the start of their relationship, JWoww was still going through her messy divorce to now ex-husband Roger Matthews. She and Roger share their two kids, Meilani and Greyson. JWoww was quick to introduce Zack to her longtime roommates. With such a large age gap between the two, the cast continually mocked JWoww and Zack, hence the nickname 24. Prior to announcing their engagement, Zack posted a photo alongside JWoww from the cast’s recent trip to the mountains, leaving fans disappointed that he will be returning to the show.

JWoww kept her engagement a secret, even from her roommates. In an interview with Page Six, Pauly D revealed that he along with the rest of the cast had no idea that Zack was planning to propose nor that it had already happened. Pauly said, “We weren’t expecting that. She didn’t tell anybody, it just happened.” Zack planned the engagement in private, leaving everyone out of the loop. Despite the cast already having started filming for the upcoming season, Zack made sure to keep his proposal off camera. JWoww held off on sharing her news with the group until they all were together in person while filming at the winter resort.

Pauly went on to explain that the mountain getaway was actually the first time Zack was thrown into a trip with the entire group. The guys took Zack in with open arms, even including him on a few guys’ days. Although Zack has appeared on the show in the past, Pauly admitted that this was the first time he got to be with Zack one-on-one. Pauly gave his stamp of approval, since he really likes Zack and understands why JWoww likes him. Zack also gets along with JWoww’s kids quite well, which is always a plus.

As for Pauly, his girlfriend Nikki Hall was a part of the trip as well; however, she was already welcomed into the group during last season. Pauly and Nikki have been inseparable since getting back together. Nikki actually played a large role in Pauly’s new virtual restaurant, Pauly D’s Italian Subs. JWoww and Zack’s big announcement to the cast will most likely be portrayed on the upcoming season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
