Jersey Shore: Family Vacation star Ronnie Ortiz Magro is being praised by his fiancé Saffire Matos for staying sober following his most recent arrest. Ronnie and Saffire started dating in 2020. At first, fans were under the impression that this relationship was much healthier than those of Ronnie’s past. However, this perception quickly changed.

In April 2021, news broke that Ronnie had been taken into custody for domestic violence allegations involving Saffire. This particular incident occurred in Ronnie’s Los Angeles home with his three-year-old daughter being present. After a heated argument between the couple turned physical, Saffire called the police for help. Upon their arrival, Saffire had physical signs of abuse. Ronnie was later released on $100,000 bail. While many fans were under the impression that Saffire and Ronnie would call it quits on their relationship for good, they were shocked to learn that the couple instead stayed together. In June, just two months after the incident, Ronnie proposed to Saffire, leaving both fans and his co-stars shocked.

Following his arrest, Ronnie Ortiz Magro announced that he would be stepping away from filming for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation in order to seek medical help for his mental health battle. Now, Saffire Matos is expressing how proud she is of Ronnie for everything he has accomplished since his arrest. Saffire shared a blurry photo of her and Ronnie kissing via her Instagram Story on Monday. In the photo, Ronnie is seen wearing a pink baseball cap and black shirt while Saffire’s hair covers much of her face. She explained how proud she is of Ronnie for not only being sober but for also actively working on his mental health. She wrote, “I’m proud of you everyday. Honestly it takes a real one to stay sober and keep on top of your mental health.“

Saffire then admitted that everyone has their own struggles and battles that they go through in private. For Ronnie, this battle has been ongoing for years now. Alas, he is finally “on a better path,” according to Saffire. She admitted that every day she shares with her fiancée how proud she is of him. Saffire has been right by Ronnie’s side throughout this journey. The post even revealed that she has attended meetings with him for his recovery. Saffire concluded the post by writing, “90 days and many more sober and stronger defeating the past.”

Since the current season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation was filmed prior to Ronnie’s arrest, he has still been seen throughout the new episodes. Just last week, Saffire made her debut on the show as she met his longtime roomies for the first time. Many fans described the encounter as awkward. They fear Saffire was only dating Ronnie for his money, fame, and success. Now, the two are getting ready to tie the knot after just one year of being together.
