John Wick 3 BTS Video Shows Keanu Reeves’ Horse Riding Stunt Training

John Wick 3 BTS video shows Keanu Reeves learning horse-riding tricks in preparation for the movie’s mind-blowing action sequences. Reeves first played the unstoppable assassin John Wick in the 2014 sleeper hit directed by Chad Stahelski and an uncredited David Leitch.

Stahelski and Leitch of course had history with Reeves going back to their days choreographing the iconic action scenes in The Matrix, which is why Reeves wanted them to handle directing John Wick. Leitch unfortunately left the John Wick universe after the first film, but Stahelski and Reeves continued their collaboration with John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. And that team-up will go on for at least one more movie as John Wick: Chapter 4 is currently in production.

It’s obvious from his on-going involvement in John Wick that Reeves loves the character and world, and loves the challenge of realizing the films’ insane action sequences (and apparently loves his stunt team, as he recently gave them all Rolexes). As proof of Reeves’ absolute commitment, Lionsgate just released a little behind-the-scenes video showing the actor doing training for the memorable horse-riding scenes in John Wick: Chapter 3. Suffice it to say, the sight of Reeves on a horse is enough to give anyone the feels. See the clip in the space below:

Among other things the clip serves to show just how much Reeves learned to do while riding on the back of a horse (though he was obviously connected to a safety harness while performing the various stunts). It also shows the enthusiasm with which Reeves tackled the challenge of learning how to perform the various tricks he was called upon to master. Again, Reeves loves being John Wick, and is clearly devoted to making the films as action-packed as possible.

The horse-related sequences in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum indeed proved to be some of the movie’s most memorable moments, so all Reeves’ hard work definitely paid off. It will be fascinating now to see how John Wick 4 could possibly take things farther than the third movie, which was the biggest of the series so far in terms of box office, taking in $327 million. No doubt Reeves and Stahelski have some amazing things in store for fans as the story of John Wick continues to unfold. Going back to the horse well again is probably not in the cards, as John Wick 3 took that idea pretty far. But there are certainly plenty of other animals that could get in on the action in the fourth John Wick. Reeves no doubt would love to learn to ride an elephant and make it do tricks.
