In the same format as HIMYMHIMYF sees Sophie (Hillary Duff) telling her son the story of how she met his father while young and searching for love alongside her close-knit group of friends. As reported by TV Line, Peck is the latest addition to the cast of How I Met Your Father. Peck will be playing the role of Drew, the handsome Vice Principal of Sophie’s friend, Jesse’s, elementary school. Alongside Peck, Ashley Reyes was also added to the cast of HIMYF as Hannah, a surgical resident in a long-distance relationship with one of Sophie’s friends. Both Peck’s and Reyes’ roles in the series will be recurring.

Peck and Reyes, like the rest of the HIMYF cast, will be portraying characters that exist in the same universe as HIMYM characters, but are not directly connected to them. While the HIMYM creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays will return as executive producers for HIMYM, the series will not be a continuation of the original. This will allow How I Met Your Father to have its own premise, characters, and connections without interrupting or complicating the very thorough life stories of the original characters. However, while there will be new characters in a wholly new storyline, there will still be some references to the original characters and room for potential guest appearances.
