Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer are fairly similar stories and are both classic anime. Both feature young people doing their best to slay sentient monsters that terrorize the world and are specifically targeting humans.

While jujutsu sorcerers and demon slayers are similar in their goals and function, there are a few key differences. Many of the best sorcerers from Jujutsu High would become excellent demon slayers, but on a case-by-case basis, some characters may not translate as well to the other series if their cursed abilities were replaced by the breathing forms and swordsmanship in Demon Slayer.

Toge

One of the weaker characters physically, Toge’s cursed speech is his saving grace as a warrior. His ability to manifest what he says is so powerful that he needs to speak in rice ball ingredients to keep others safe, which, while humorous, doesn’t make sense to some Jujutsu Kaisen fans.

While there’s a precedent for characters that are physically weak becoming excellent demon slayers, like Shinobu, there’s a great deal that Toge wouldn’t be able to accomplish unless his total concentration breathing was just as incredible as his cursed speech is. Sound breathing would be the most obvious choice for Toge, and his personality would be likely to resonate with that style.

Miwa

Gojo’s biggest fan and the communities’ lovingly named “useless Miwa” is the kindest of the Kyoto school members. Known for her skills with a sword, Miwa’s motivation is earning money to support herself and her younger siblings.

Miwa’s experience with the sword would translate well into the world of Demon Slayer, where all slayers except for a few Hashira use swords as their main weapons. While she may not be the strongest character in her own universe, Miwa’s motivation and sword skills would translate well into the world of Demon Slayer. Water breathing would be a perfect choice for the versatile and mobile Miwa.

Panda

While “Panda is not a panda” was the season 1 battle cry of the mutated panda-like cursed corpse, most viewers still see the cursed being as a walking, talking Panda with superpowers.

The entire premise of Panda makes him difficult to translate to Demon Slayer, but there’s a simple solution. If Panda is a demon instead of a cursed being, he would fulfill a simple role. There’s already a precedent in Nezuko for a demon to join the Demon Slayer Corps, and Panda would surely use his blood demon art for good. However, as a demon, Panda would be unable to kill other demons, making him simply a support tool for other demon slayers.

Nobara

Of the main female characters in the classic “anime trio,” Nobara is perhaps the most celebrated. Not only is her straw doll technique one of the most interesting in the series, but her hatred of cursed spirits is a fascinating character trait.

One could argue that Nobara’s main weapon, a hammer, wouldn’t translate well into Demon Slayer. However, Gyomei is perhaps the strongest Hashira and he uses an unconventional weapon: an axe and flail. For her breathing form, Nobara would likely invent her own. Something like doll breathing would fit the mold of the odd techniques like love breathing and serpent breathing that are far removed from sun breathing.

Megumi

While there’s still a lot that anime-only fans still don’t know about Megumi, the sorcerer’s ability to summon a wide variety of Shikigami and his early access to domain expansion made him a star character early on. Megumi also has the honor of being the object of intrigue for Sukuna himself.

Megumi’s Ten Shadows technique wouldn’t translate to the world of Demon Slayer, but his close combat skills would. Megumi became incredibly proficient with weapons after training with his upperclassman Maki, and those abilities would serve him well in the battle against demons. Shadow breathing, likely an offshoot of moon breathing, would be a fascinating new style to see animated and would fit Megumi perfectly.

Yuji

As Sukuna’s vessel and the protagonist of the series, Yuji’s strengths and weaknesses are well documented. Nobody among his peers can match his raw strength, but problems keeping his cool and a low battle IQ are still weaknesses the young hero needs to work on.

Through physical abilities alone, Yuji would be a powerful demon slayer. He’s also shown to have the patience to master total concentration breathing, just as he worked diligently with the cursed corpse in season one to master his flow of cursed energy. Yuji’s breathing style would fittingly be moon breathing, the breathing form of Upper Moon 1 Kokushibo, to mimic his role as Sukuna’s host in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Maki

Part of the fascination around fan-favorite Maki comes from her lack of cursed abilities. She’s easily one of the most impressive students in the entire series, but she entirely relies on her use of cursed tools and raw physical strength to win fights.

This is precisely what makes her one of the best Jujutsu Kaisen characters to be put into the Demon Slayer universe. Maki’s power, speed, and skill with weapons would make her almost unparalleled among slayers, and she’d no doubt eventually become a Hashira. To mimic her weakness with cursed energy, Maki would have no specific breathing form and instead would rely on her physical abilities and raw total concentration breathing in fights.

Nanami

The ratio technique user is both a grade 1 sorcerer and temporary mentor to Yuji. Nanami proved in his fights with Mahito that he was a sorcerer worth respecting.

Nanami’s philosophy of treating jujutsu sorcery as a job would be an amusing addition to Demon Slayer. While fans don’t know exactly how much money Hashira earn, the fact that Rengoku was able to buy an entire stock of bento proves that Hashira bring in a decent income. Nanami’s technique of using the 7:3 ratio to create a weak point would best be used with the fast and precise wind breathing.

Todo

Todo is the strongest student at the Kyoto Jujutsu High and owner of the incredibly powerful Boogie Woogie technique. The comedic self-proclaimed possessor of an IQ of over 500,000 undoubtedly has the brightest mind for combat in the series, even if his smarts outside of battle leave something to be desired.

Todo’s immense strength combined with his incredible sense of battle would make him a Hashira almost instantly. While there’s no breathing form that can mimic Boogie Woogie, stone breathing would be a perfect fit for Todo. Not only is it one of the strongest breathing forms, but it’s a perfect fit for someone with the grounded strength that Todo displays.

Gojo Satoru

The mentor of the main trio also happens to be the most powerful person alive. With his mastery of limitless, no curse can defeat Gojo. The special grade sorcerer’s power is so great that in the anime, the only plan the curses have come up with to deal with him is sealing him away so that he never gets the chance to fight.

As the strongest jujutsu sorcerer alive, Gojo would also likely be the strongest demon slayer alive. Gojo is capable of surpassing titans like Gyomei and the strongest demon slayer ever, Yoriichi. Without limitless, Gojo would need a breathing style befitting of his strength and speed. While all other breathing styles are in some way offshoots of sun breathing, Gojo would likely create a breathing style completely separate from Yorrichi’s. Limitless breathing, or infinity breathing, would be a chance for Demon Slayer fans to finally see a breathing style that surpasses sun breathing.
