There are many dangerous spirits in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen that prey on the weak and the vulnerable. These spirits, known as Curses, take on strange and hideous forms, and over time can develop unique abilities that make them incredibly strong opponents.

The jujutsu sorcerers of Tokyo and Kyoto work together to battle these formidable Curses. The strongest Curses are deemed special grade Curses and are a tough match for even the most powerful sorcerers, and both excellent technique and strategy are required in order to best them in a fight.

10 Roppongi Curse

Shortly after being accepted into Tokyo Jujutsu High, Yuji Itadori formed a team with Megumi Fushiguro and fellow new student, Nobara Kugisaki. While Megumi recovered from his injuries inflicted during his fight with the Occult Club Curse, Yuji and Nobara were tasked by Satoru Gojo with clearing out an abandoned warehouse in Roppongi. It was here that they encountered a particularly nasty Curse that had taken a boy hostage.

This Curse was remarkable not for its strength, but for its cunning and intelligence. It used the boy as a shield and was willing to kill the child to save itself, and if not for a timely surprise attack by Yuji this situation may have turned out far worse.

9 Occult Club Curse

The first Curse that Yuji encountered is the one that attacked his friends in the Occult Club at his former school. The Curse was at the school looking for one of Ryomen Sukuna’s fingers, which are special grade cursed objects that attract Curses. This Curse was physically strong and smart enough to ambush Megumi when he was not paying attention.

The Curse seriously injured Megumi to the point that he was forced to dispel his shikigami, leaving him completely helpless. If Yuji had not eaten Sukuna’s finger to gain access to cursed energy to fight the Curse it’s likely that both he and Megumi would not have survived the encounter.

8 Finger Bearer

Finger Bearers are cursed spirits that evolve into more powerful, special grade curses upon consuming one of Sukuna’s fingers. Yuji and his friends first encountered a Finger Bearer while going to rescue survivors at the Eishu Juvenile Detention Center. This Curse was incredibly strong and much more powerful than Yuji and his friends at the time.

The Curse easily killed Megumi’s White Divine Dog and casually sliced off Yuji’s arm in the blink of an eye. Yuji convinced Megumi to flee and to save himself and Nobara while Yuji held off the Finger Bearer. Only by allowing Sukuna to take over his body was Yuji able to defeat the Curse and exorcise it, but in doing so he also allowed Sukuna to run rampant for a time.

7 Kechizu

The Cursed Womb: Death Paintings are special grade cursed objects made from the blood of a human and cursed spirit. Three of the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings were kept locked away by Tokyo Jujutsu High until they were stolen by Mahito during the surprise attack on the school. The Curses were then revived by Mahito and enlisted in his fight against the jujutsu sorcerers.

The youngest of the three brothers, Kechizu, was a monstrous Curse who was able to use a corrosive rot technique to poison and decompose his target. He was a powerful special grade Curse but was ultimately defeated by Yuji and Nobara.

6 Eso

The middle brother of the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings and older brother of Kechizu, Eso appeared more human than his deformed sibling. However, his connection with humanity ended at his looks and brotherly love for his fellow Curse siblings. Eso enjoyed dominating others and would tease those he deemed weaker than himself.

He could reshape and manipulate his blood into wings or daggers to attack his opponents, and once his blood mixed with his opponent’s he could poison them from the inside out. Thanks to his heightened poison resistance through his connection with Sukuna, Yuji was able to resist Eso’s poison long enough to defeat him, but their battle came down to the wire.

5 Choso

The eldest brother of the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings and older brother to Kechizu and Eso, Choso remains a mystery to fans of the series. Like Eso, he appears more human than Kechizu, and he is also very protective of his brothers. He immediately knew that Eso and Kechizu were dead once they were killed by Yuji and Nobara, implying that he has strong intuitive powers.

While his abilities have yet to be relieved, he likely inherited the same blood techniques as his brothers, and as the eldest sibling, he is supposedly the most powerful of the three. Time will tell if he indeed contains powers beyond that of his two deceased brothers.

4 Mahito

Mahito is one of the primary antagonists of the series whose goal is to eradicate humanity and usher in a new age dominated by cursed spirits. Mahito appears human aside from the patchwork scars that criss-cross his face and body, but there is nothing human about him. He is sadistic to his core and enjoys toying with others’ feelings.

He is able to reshape souls with his cursed technique, which he does to horrifying effect by creating inhuman puppets that do his bidding. He is still young, and therefore not as strong as Jogo or Hanami, but he is intelligent and creative, and his willingness to experiment means he has only room to grow.

3 Jogo

Jogo is a special grade Curse whose power is equal to 8 or 9 of Sukuna’s fingers. His head resembles a volcano, and he uses fire-based techniques to attack his opponent. Jogo is both cruel and powerful, as demonstrated by his willingness to incinerate a number of humans eating a restaurant for no particular reason.

He ambushed Satoru in the hopes of defeating him easily, but the tables were ultimately turned and he proved no match for the jujutsu sorcerer. Still, Jogo demonstrated amazing raw power, and his domain technique would likely have allowed him to defeat almost any other sorcerer trapped inside.

2 Hanami

At first glance, Hanami does not appear as intimidating or as strong as some of the other Curses, but appearances can be deceiving. Hanami is easily one of the strongest Curses in the series and was able to go toe-to-toe with multiple jujutsu sorcerers at once. Hanami cares for the planet and is angered by the abuse humans have done to the earth, and this rage fuels his power.

Capable of summoning vast amounts of cursed energy, Hanami was able to defeat Toge, Noritoshi, Megumi, and Maki before Yuji and Aoi managed to fight Hanami to a stalemate with their combined strength. Both physically strong and packing dangerous techniques and massive amounts of cursed energy, Hanami is not a Curse to be taken lightly.

1 Sukuna

The undisputed King of Curses, Sukuna is one of if not the strongest Curse ever to walk the face of the earth. He was so strong that he could not be completely destroyed, and so his 20 fingers were sealed away and hidden for 1,000 years. Sukuna can summon incredible amounts of cursed energy, and even one of his fingers can transform a normal Curse into a special grade.

Although Yuji is the perfect vessel for Sukuna’s soul, Sukuna still manages to occasionally wrestle control from Yuji and take advantage of his freedom. Cunning, strong, and brimming with powerful and deadly techniques, Sukuna is the most powerful villain in the series, and it remains to be seen what will happen once all 20 of his fingers have been recovered.
