For over one hundred chapters now, fans have speculated as to what the strongest cursed technique in Jujutsu Kaisen is- but the introduction of one ridiculous power and its even more ridiculous drawback might finally put these debates to bed. In chapter 146, readers are introduced to Fumihiko Takaba, a failed comedian who seems more like a throwaway character at first but this impression changes when his cursed technique is revealed in chapter 173. The introduction of his dangerous and outlandish technique could have massive ramifications for the story going forwards as it quite literally allows anything to happen.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Previously in Jujutsu Kaisen, popular deuteragonist Megumi Fushiguro was facing off against a pair of sorcerers bent on killing anyone who refuses to ally with them. Seemingly out of nowhere, Takaba shows up and allies with Fushiguro…because he seems like a funny guy. Takaba’s actions are erratic to say the least and when he enters combat no one can decipher his strange abilities, most notably the fact that he can brush off any damage whatsoever with no restriction or exhaustion weighing him down.

The secret to this technique is revealed in chapter 173 where writer Gege Akutami reveals that Takaba’s technique is named Comedian. This is followed by a brief explanation of the ability, stating that anything Takaba thinks would certainly be funny will become reality. This explanation is then followed by a massive reveal in which it is said that Takaba’s “Comedian” has the power to rival Satoru Gojo who has been stated numerous times to be the strongest sorcerer in the verse. Despite wielding a massive power, this cursed technique comes with one massive flaw…in its user. Takaba is quite literally clueless about his power.

Takaba’s newfound power has some absolutely ridiculous ramifications for the Jujutsu Kaisen story, especially now that he seems to be on the main cast’s side. With the power to bring anything he finds funny into reality, Takaba could even be the key to unsealing Gojo Satoru should things go awry. If he knew how to use his power, Takaba could single-handedly end the Culling Game, and possibly even bring slain characters back to life. His ability is a complete game-changer for the story of Jujutsu Kaisen but the odds of him doing something useful with the mindset he currently has are quite slim.

Takaba’s cluelessness about his power is a dangerous unknown variable when it comes to his performance in battle. As seen in the most recent chapter, he will resort to childish pranks like manifesting sauce all over his body instead of fighting properly. While he maintains the appearance of invulnerability for now, it has yet to be seen whether this power remains active permanently or if there is a weakness that can be exploited. Danger could also come in the form of his own unpredictable behavior as there’s no telling if he’d find his allies getting hurt in battle to be funny either. In either case, there is no doubt that Takaba’s newfound technique could turn out to be anything but funny for the sorcerors of Jujutsu Kaisen once he learns how to utilize it.
