E3 2021 saw the announcement of dozens of new and returning titles for many game franchises. One of these returning titles was Jurassic World Evolution 2, the sequel to the Jurassic Park management game of the same name. Jurassic World Evolution 2 will take place shortly after the film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, tasking players with collecting and protecting the escaped dinosaurs. Jurassic World Evolution 2 promises to expand on many features from the first game, including new dinosaurs.

The Jurassic Park franchise has explored several periods of prehistory, utilizing some of the most popular creatures from the Cretaceous, Jurassic, and Triassic periods. Jurassic World Evolution 2 has 70 different dinosaurs available in-game. While including the dinosaur stars of the movies is vital, there are a few species that deserve a spot in the upcoming game.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 developers have already confirmed the addition of multiple new biomes in the game as well as flying and aquatic dinosaurs. One of the species that should appear in Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the Megalodon, which has been featured throughout entertainment media, so it would be a missed opportunity to not allow players to take care of their own. Additionally, Jurassic World Evolution 2 should look into adding dinosaurs that reflect some of the new biomes. Creatures such as the Protoceratops once explored various desert biomes. With Jurassic World Evolution 2 taking place after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Protoceratops would fit in remarkably well in places such as Death Valley or other locations in the Western United States that mirror a desert biome.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 Should Take Advantage of Hybridization

One of the appealing features of the first Jurassic World Evolution game was genetically manipulating dinosaurs to make them more appealing to the public and make them more powerful. The DLC called The Secrets of Dr. Wu for Jurassic World Evolution even featured terrifying hybrids such as the Spinoraptor or the Stegoceratops. While the options were limited to five new dinosaurs, allowing players to expand on hybridization in the sequel could expand gameplay. By introducing more hybrid species, players can focus their efforts on collecting the in-tact DNA of multiple dinosaurs to create the perfect hybrid. Hybridizing land-dwelling, flying, and aquatic dinosaur species opens many opportunities for Jurassic World Evolution 2 to expand its cast of dinosaurs.

While the Jurassic Park franchise has often focused on the more popular species of dinosaurs such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Velociraptor, and Triceratops, there are other rare species with extreme potential for the series. Incorporating rarer, lesser-known species like Elaphrosaurus can further diversify the species available in Jurassic World Evolution 2. While players want to find their favorites available in the game, including unexpected additions to the cast of dinosaurs can set Jurassic World Evolution 2 apart from other dinosaur video games.
