Developer and publisher Frontier Developments has announced plans to release Jurassic World Evolution 2 this holiday season on November 9 for PC and consoles. A construction and management sim, the original Jurassic World Evolution arrived in June 2018, with stars from the Jurassic Park film franchise such as Jeff Goldblum, BD Wong, and Bryce Dallas Howard reprising their respective roles.

This Jurassic World-themed interactive adventure tasks players with constructing and running a dinosaur theme park, one complete with attractions, research centers, and other points of interest. Frontier worked closely with IP holder Universal Pictures to faithfully recreate the world of the beloved brand, though developers received plenty of creative freedom since Jurassic World Evolution exists outside of the theatrical franchise’s canon. Now the production team is gearing up to release a follow-up entry, a sequel that will include everything from the return of Jeff Goldblum’s character, Ian Malcolm, to marine-based reptilians.

Today, Frontier Developments confirmed that Jurassic World Evolution 2 will launch across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms on November 9, 2021. Pre-orders for each version go live today, allowing PlayStation and Xbox fans to choose between Standard and Deluxe Editions, the latter of which bears a $70 price tag with contents including six exclusive building signs, five prehistoric animals, and three Dinosaur Protection Group-inspired vehicle skins. A release date announcement trailer accompanied the news, as seen in the video linked below:

Frontier announced all of the above during the Geoff Keighley-hosted gamescom Opening Night Live. And fans have plenty to look forward to once the sequel itself drops later in the year. For example, Jurassic World Evolution 2 exists beyond the confines of The Muertas Island, making use of locales across the Desert and Taiga. The sequel additionally plays host to a whopping 75-plus different pre-historic creatures, including reptiles of both the flying and marine variety.

Similar to Jurassic World Evolution before it, the new entry in the nascent business sim franchise will launch in time for the theatrical release of another Jurassic World installment. The movie in question, Jurassic World 3: Dominion, currently boasts a due date of June 10, 2022, though Universal Pictures initially planned to unleash the next chapter in June 2021.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 hits stores on November 9 for PC via Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
