Warning! Potential spoilers for Timeless by Marvel Comics below

Marvel’s Kang the Conqueror will fight to save Earth-616 as forces outside the Multiverse threaten to destroy his reality. In the new series Timeless, a new timeline will threaten Kang the Conqueror and all he’s created since becoming the villain. To stop the threat, Kang will protect a timeline he’s often meddling with and will seemingly take a more heroic – albeit selfish – role in the Marvel Universe.

This week, Marvel Comics revealed what’s coming up in the pages of their stories, announcing eight new series which all will have significant impacts on the Marvel universe. The upcoming series are adventures spanning across the main timeline to the Multiverse. Among the announcements include a new Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur comic, She-Hulk returning to practicing law, a Multiversal team of Avengers taking on evil threats in Avengers Forever, Reckoning War breaking out in the Fantastic Four, a new series following the lives and deaths of Wolverine, and a new Daredevil-led event starring the Kingpin called Devil’s Reign.

Kang the Conqueror will star in Timeless, a new series from Jed MacKay, Kev Walker, Joe Bennett, and Mark Bagley. In the preview for the series, Marvel Comics revealed that a new timeline will pose the greatest threat to Kang’s plans in his own timeline, leading him to protect a reality he’s often come into deep conflict with.

Kang the Conqueror might be one of Marvel’s oldest villains, originally appearing in Fantastic Four #19 by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, but his profile has never been higher than it is now. Kang the Conqueror was announced as the main villain of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania in 2020, where Jonathan Majors will play the time-traveling menace. Majors made a surprise appearance in Loki as He Who Remains, a variant of Kang who is killed, likely leading to the main variant coming to the main timeline. Kang the Conqueror also got his first ongoing series from Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, and Carlos Magno, which has filled in gaps about Kang’s origin.

It’s going to be fascinating to see Kang the Conqueror protecting the 616-reality instead of trying to shape it to his own design. Just who are the threats big enough that even Kang needs to take action to stop them? Perhaps, Marvel’s Multiversal Masters of Evil will arrive and take on the villain. Will he meet a new variant from the new timeline as well? Readers will find out more when Kang the Conqueror’s new series, Timeless, comes to comic book stores in December.
