Marvel’s Agatha: House of Harkness spinoff show is everything Kathryn Hahn hoped it would be, the star is teasing. Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe began in early 2020 with the release of WandaVision, the first Marvel Disney+ show. The show was a huge hit, going on to receive multiple Emmy nominations, including one for Kathryn Hahn’s performance as Agatha Harkness. Her nosy-neighbor/secret witch was one of the best new MCU characters of 2021, so much so that Marvel quickly began developing plans for a spinoff.

Reports originally surfaced of an Agatha Harkness WandaVision spinoff in October 2021 that would bring Kathryn Hahn back as the fan-favorite character. Marvel Studios then confirmed in November 2021 that Agatha: House of Harkness was officially in development from WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer. The announcement of the spinoff series didn’t come with any plot details or a release window. However, Marvel is still working diligently on the new show. Agatha: House of Harkness is rumored to begin filming in late 2022, pointing to a possible 2023 release date. But audiences might not have to wait that long to see the character again, as Agatha is rumored for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness before returning for the spinoff.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

With so little information known about Agatha: House of Harkness, fans are eager to learn anything they can about the series. EW recently had the opportunity to talk to Kathryn Hahn about her career and used this as an opportunity to ask about her upcoming Marvel spinoff show. Hahn couldn’t reveal much about the status of the series or what viewers will see, but she did hint at how exciting the project is in her eyes. The star said Agatha: House of Harkness is “exactly what I would have hoped and dreamt.”

Hahn hasn’t revealed too much about what she wants to see next for Agatha Harkness, which makes it difficult to piece together what she’d be hoping for more of in Agatha: House of Harkness. It is widely believed that the spinoff will answer some lingering WandaVision questions and explore Agatha’s history, potentially revealing how she came to possess the Darkhold. There are also suggestions that the show will feature Agatha creating her own “house” of witches based on the title. Either or both of these possibilities could be points of interest for Hahn when it comes to revisiting Agatha in the MCU.

With development on Agatha: House of Harkness continuing to move forward, it might not be that long before more details are revealed. If filming is going to begin later this year, it will only be a matter of time before new cast members and the return of established MCU characters like, potentially, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) are confirmed. No matter what the series ultimately includes, Hahn is already doing her job to hype up the show. Now fans will have to hope Agatha: House of Harkness lives up to her early praise.
