Keeping Up With the Kardashians has been one of the most successful reality shows the world has seen. The show elevated the Kardashian family to massive heights as one of the most famous celebrity families, even propelling some of them to billionaire status. The original series has spawned more than a dozen spinoffs across multiple channels and platforms.

The Kardashian clan clearly has an army of dedicated supporters, but even with such a large fan base, some opinions are more mainstream than others. Redditors took to the KUWTK subreddit to discuss some of their less widely supported viewpoints, ranging from how the family treats each other to the accuracy of some of their claims.

The Kardashians Use Nannies As An Easy Way Out

The Kardashians use of nannies is well documented on their show, but it’s framed as being a necessity because of how busy their lives are. All of the Kardashians are constantly out and about doing projects, with Kim doing so many that fans even forget about some of them. There is absolutely no doubt that they love their children, but some fans have some criticism of their parenting.

Redditor u/Heroine77 wrote “…I think that they use nannies to do what they perceive as mundane jobs so that they only have to do easy and fun things with their kids. I think it’s taking the easy way out to raising your child.” While they do spend plenty of time with their children, they really have not been seen doing much diaper changing or cooking. Maybe that is a luxury of being rich, but either way, their nannies do make child-raising much easier.

Kim Kardashian Hated Her Met Gala Sofa Dress

Kim made her first Met Gala appearance in 2013, and while that alone would make it memorable, Kim’s style choices made it even more memorable. The Ricardo Tisci designed floral maternity dress led to a flood of memes on social media, with users comparing the pattern to one that could be seen on a couch. Kim does say she was skeptical of it at first, but ended up loving it.

Reddit user u/Robotlollipops has their doubts though, commenting that “I choose to believe that Kim hated that hideous sofa dress”. Many other users agreed, with user u/xala123 pointing out how the dress is not like her, as she has never really worn any similar outfits.

The Kardashians Aren’t As Rich As They Claim

Nobody doubts that the Kardashian crew is extremely wealthy, as the expensive things the Kardashians wear on the show are enough to prove that. Both Kim and Kylie claim to be billionaires though, which some fans have doubts about.

A comment on Reddit by u/the_skintellectual reads “They are nowhere near as rich as they want us to believe”, which may sound a bit unfounded, but a reply by u/JennyinNYC2021 may back up the theory. They write how they used to work for an ultra wealthy individual who would “fudge documents” to inflate the reported amount of his net worth for PR purposes. She also points out that some of the Kardashians’ business partners, such as Emma Grede, do not claim to have anywhere near that level of wealth, despite taking in similar profits from their businesses.

The Kardashians Don’t Really Care About Their Fans

The Kardashians being reality TV royalty can be attributed to the fact they have so many people who watch their every move and support their business ventures. While they acknowledge the importance of their fans, people have doubted their sincerity.

One user, u/genescheesesthatplz, wrote how he believes the family is “entitled” and “They don’t care about their fans, they just love manipulating us for money.” Other users, such as u/Here_For_The_Feed and u/platinumcreatine mention how they treated Addison Rae on the show. Addison is a self proclaimed fan of the Kardashians, and got invited to a lunch with them. The family constantly threw shade at Addison, and seemingly talked down on her. If that’s how they treat one of their celebrity fans, it may be reasonable for some to think they would treat their average fans the same, if not worse.

The Kardashians’ Business Acumen Is Exaggerated

Aside from the money they rake in via their television shows, the Kardashians also run multiple businesses to add on to their exorbitant wealth. Their makeup brands are among the most successful celebrity cosmetics brands out there, and the family loves to point that out whenever people claim they’re rich for doing nothing; how can they be doing nothing if they have all these massive businesses? Well, some have a rebuttal.

Reddit commenter u/Rude_Lifeguard wrote a convincing argument that “They don’t run ‘billion dollar businesses’ they are the faces of billion dollar businesses, which are run by actually smart people with REAL business experience.” They mention that this isn’t a Kardashian-exclusive observation, and that most celebrities operate similarly. They have the connections and money to get the most astute business minds to run the show behind the scenes, while they are just the public face.

KimYe Was Not A Good Match

While the Kardashians are known for their high profile relationships, none were followed as closely as Kim and Kanye. The two were romantically attached for over a decade before their 2021 split, and most thought the two were a good couple based off their interactions on the show. The key word in that statement however, is “most.”

User u/smokeyeyepie commented how they “hated” the two as a pair, and that “They just don’t mesh, their attraction to each other feels very surface level. I highkey can’t even imagine what they talk about.” The way they portray themselves in front of the camera is obviously very calculated, making it impossible to know how they are behind closed doors. Hopefully u/smokeyeyepie is more fond of Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s relationship.

Khloe Kardashian and Scott Disick’s Painting Prank Was Entertaining

On season 15 of KUWTK, Khloe and Scott pulled a prank on Kris, giving her fraudulent high end paintings. Kris loves expensive art, so it was quite a good prank to pull on her. This scene seemed a bit preplanned with production, making many viewers dislike it. Despite this, some fans loved it for the entertainment value it provided.

u/Dostmo commented that the episode was “entertaining” with u/Prestigious_Sort4979 adding that “It’s fake but it’s fun!! Light hearted and clever.” Scenes that are not off the cuff may receive backlash on reality shows, but some of the best Keeping Up With The Kardashians scenes that viewers love to rewatch may be at least slightly preplanned.

The Kardashians’ Refrigerator Obsession Is Weird

Anytime one of their fridges is shown in one of the Kardashians’ grand, expensive homes, something that shows off their wealth is their refrigerators. They are consistently stocked with a trove of fresh produce, meticulously organized as if it were a display in a grocery store. Many have complimented the aesthetically pleasing setup, but at least one person finds it a bit unsettling.

u/Verrede_vin wrote how they find the fridge obsession to be “tacky”. It may be a fair assessment, as branding your own food storage is a bit of a privileged look, but the Kardashians do love doing everything big. It’s hard to expect much different from the Kardashians though, so them going all out on their refrigeration units is not too shocking.

Kris Jenner Might Not Be So Amazing

Kris is affectionately referred to as the Kardashians’ “momager”, delicately balancing the duties of being a loving mother and truthful manager to her six children. She has done plenty of nice things on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and has avoided causing her own controversy. While the kids are usually complimentary of her and what they have done for their careers, some Kardashian clan followers have their reservations about her.

User u/bluemoon4901 wrote that they believe “Kris Jenner has no redeeming qualities at all. Everything she does is motivated by getting more money and attention…I’d honestly make it my mission to get her to cry as much as possible.” Kris has been accused of taking advantage of her daughters in order to prop up her own career, and for being too much of a harsh manager than a loving mother at times. Her relationships with Khloe and Kendall on the show have been quite contentious at times, so it may be a valid criticism that some people have.

Kanye West Elevated Kim Kardashian’s Fame More Than Some Fans Want To Admit

Kim was certainly a star at the time of her wedding to Kanye, and her diehard fans oftentimes arge she was already a top-tier celebrity before Mr. West came into her life. Not all of them have this sentiment though.

Redditor u/somegirlontheinter commented how “Kanye absolutely elevated her status”, with u/_smooosh adding how Kanye helped her finally get on the cover of Vogue and in invite to the Met Gala. Kim’s influence in the fashion industry certainly rose over the past few years with Ye, but it is unclear if that is attributed to him, or if she just would have grown herself.
