SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The latest Silent Night trailer released by RLJE Films introduces a seemingly normal and happy family living in the countryside preparing for the arrival of some relatives for dinner on Christmas Day. Throughout, the viewers are introduced to the darkly comical banter between the family members. While the elegant orchestral background score and colorful look of the Christmas-ridden production design suggest a festive atmosphere, all is not what it seems in the household as the trailer plays out as a ticking time bomb that foreshadows impending doom. Knightley rounds off the night with the words “May we rest in peace,” which suggests a grim farewell for the characters. Watch the trailer below:

Silent Night had its world premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival on September 16th. It received a mixed response from critics and currently holds a fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 67%. The film will be released theatrically and on the streaming service AMC+ on December 3rd, 2021, which gives it a good chance to be viewed by a wider audience.
