Netflix releases the first True Story trailer starring Kevin Hart and Wesley Snipes as brothers who fall down a criminal rabbit hole. The series centers on Kid, one of the world’s most famous comedians, as he arrives in his hometown of Philadelphia for the latest stop of his tour and reunites with his older brother Carlton. However, as Carlton’s shadier side threatens to destroy Kid’s life, the latter must discover how far he is willing to go to protect what he has and what he values the most.

Alongside Hart and Snipes, the cast for True Story includes Star Trek: Lower Decks‘ Tawny Newsome, Prison Break alum Paul Adelstein, Good Girls Revolt‘s Chris Diamantopoulos, Titanic‘s Billy Zane, Star Trek: Picard‘s John Ales and Army of the Dead‘s Theo Rossi. Development on the limited series was first announced late last year when Hart and Snipes signed on to lead the latest Netflix crime drama from Narcos and Narcos: Mexico alum Eric Newman. After unveiling the first images for the series a couple months ago, Netflix is offering audiences the first true look at True Story.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

With less than a month remaining until the series’ arrival, Netflix has debuted the first True Story trailer. The video introduces Hart’s celebrity comedian and Snipes’ trouble-causing brother as the former’s life begins to unravel as he tries to support his family. Check out the trailer below:

The first True Story trailer displays a number of interesting elements sure to draw audiences in, namely the brotherhood between its central stars. While Snipes is better known for his turns in more serious fare, the crime drama marks the latest departure for Hart from his famous comedic schtick to dramatic material. Hart most recently explored this scene with fellow Netflix title Fatherhood, which debuted to mixed-to-positive reviews from critics this past summer but saw a large amount of praise directed to his against-type performance in the film.

True Story also comes as an interesting chapter in both Hart and Snipes’ filmographies in being a rare TV project for the movie stars, especially Snipes, whose previous leading role on the small screen was in the short-lived NBC action series The Player. Hart did lead the Quibi action comedy Die Hart and Netflix’s Kevin Hart: Don’t F**k This Up, though with the former adding up to essentially a film while the latter was a documentary, it will be interesting to see how he and Snipes perform in the world of television. Only time will tell when True Story hits Netflix on November 24.
