Jodie Comer says she hasn’t been part of any conversations regarding Killing Eve spin-offs. Since premiering on BBC America in 2018, Killing Eve has enjoyed massive critical acclaim and positioned itself as one of the channel’s flagship series, garnering numerous Primetime Emmy nominations, including a win for Comer. Based on the Villanelle novel series by Luke Jennings, the series follows Sandra Oh as a British intelligence investigator named Eve Polastri on an obsessive quest to capture a psychopathic assassin, Comer’s Villanelle.

Killing Eve was renewed for a fourth and final season in January of 2020. Still, along with every film and television production at the time, it was delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic hit Killing Eve especially hard, given its globe-trotting setting, making it challenging to film. The series finally began production on season 4 last month, which will premiere sometime next year and wrap up the British spy thriller with eight final episodes. With the cult-favorite series set to end, fans are looking forward to the continuation of the Killing Eve universe in some form.

Although it doesn’t appear series star Jodie Comer will be a part of that continuation. In a recent interview with Variety discussing her various projects, Comer revealed that she has not been involved in any conversations about her Killing Eve character returning for a spin-off series, saying, “I’ve by no means been a part of any conversations.”

This news comes after reports that Killing Eve will end after season 4, and possible spin-offs are already in development. It’s currently unknown whether these projects will focus on already established characters or entirely new storylines set in the Killing Eve universe. However, Comer’s quote leaves little room for hope that her skilled assassin, Villanelle, will be returning.

While the possibility of a Killing Eve spin-off looms, the series’ final chapter has yet to air but will continue the tradition of bringing on a different female head writer for each season. Season 1 was written by Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, followed by Promising Young Woman’s Emerald Fennell and Fear the Walking Dead’s, Suzanne Heathcote. Laura Neal acts as the show’s fourth and final head writer. While Jodie Comer might not be featured in any Killing Eve spin-offs, she can be seen most recently in the hit comedy Free Guy, Ridley Scott’s medieval drama The Last Duel, and the searing COVID-19 drama Help.
