Kim Kardashian has given fans more details as to why Keeping Up With the Kardashiansis coming to an end. The show is currently in its season 19 and will come to an end after the finale of season 20.

Just last month, the Kardashians revealed that their show Keeping Up With the Kardashians would be coming to an end in 2021. The family has been filming the show for 14 years and is currently filming the final season which will air next year. When the show first started in 2007, none of the sisters were married or had children. Now, in the KUWTK season 19, momager Kris Jenner is the grandmother to 10 children. As the show grew and evolved, so did the family. Kourtney was the first to have a child in 2009 when she and now-ex Scott Disick had their first child, Mason Disick. They co-parenting duo went on to have two more children, Penelope and Reign. Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West have four children of their own, North, Saint, Chicago, and the youngest of the cousins, Psalm. Rob Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Khloe Kardashian all have little girls of their own, leaving Kendall Jenner as the last sibling who has yet to have a child.  Over the years, fans watched as the show gave small glimpses of the babies of the family growing up and creating strong Kar-Jenner bonds with each other.

As Keeping Up With the Kardashians starts to wind down, fans are left wondering about the real reason behind the shocking decision to end the hit show. Pop Culture revealed that Kim Kardashian West recently sat down to speak about this topic, and shared that the family did it for their children. She revealed that the family as a whole did need a break, but that one of the biggest factors in the decision was the children. Kim shared that the kids need their attention: “we have kids now. And they need us.”

After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way. Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives. Our last season will air early next year in 2021. Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever. With Love and Gratitude, Kim

Filming can be time-consuming, especially when it goes on for 14 years. As many fans already know, the Kardashian-Jenner babies are not shown on the show very often. This means that while Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, or Kylie are filming, they are most likely spending time away from their babies. In fact, it was for this exact reason that Kourtney Kardashian took a break from the show during KUWTK season 18. During her time off, Kourtney put a lot of her energy into parenting her three kids before returning to filming. While it seemed to work fine for the last few years, as the family grows, there are more and more kids that want the full and undivided attention of their parents.

As the Kardashian-Jenner bunch have proven over the 14 year run of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, family always comes first. A lot has changed since their start of the show. They are no longer the same people that first appeared on the show in 2007. They are entrepreneurs, models, moguls, and most importantly, parents. Although it may not have been an easy decision for the family, it is time for them to take a step back from the cameras, to focus on making precious memories with their Kar-Jenner children.
