The popular Netflix series Kingdom is receiving a video game adaptation in the form of Kingdom: The Blood, an online action RPG slated to release across PC and mobile platforms. Netflix has a vested interest in expanding into gaming, which should come as no surprise given the streaming giant’s brief history with the medium.

Multiple original Netflix properties have already received interactive adaptations, for instance, including heavy-hitters such as Stranger Things and Narcos. Plus, leaked information suggests the company may enter a partnership with PlayStation, though the specifics, should the claim prove true, remain under lock and key. Netflix’s exploration of gaming is not at all exclusive to adaptations of its own works, either. In recent years, it has also become accustomed to adapting game franchises into animated TV shows, with the critically-acclaimed Castlevania proving particularly successful.

The latest Netflix series to receive the video game treatment is South Korean horror thriller Kingdom. Titled Kingdom: The Blood, the Action Square-developed experience will drop fans into an online third-person action RPG built in Unreal Engine 4. Action Square partnered with production studio AStory to begin development in 2020 for a PC and mobile project that, according to a press release, will offer cross-play options. The companies mean to adhere to the core tenets of the TV show by following its motif of “inheriting the royal bloodline.” Not much is known as of yet, but fans of the property can expect the fierce battles of Kingdom’s zombies to come to life in The Blood, thanks to the use of motion capture and “high-quality 3D graphics.” In teasing the project, Action Square unleashed the following trailer and illustration:

Since so much about Kingdom: The Blood remains a mystery, it’s hard to gauge what exactly the moment-to-moment action will entail. It is clear, however, that the undead will not take a backseat; reason suggests the blood and gore will sit center stage, as well.

A political drama set within the backdrop of Korea’s Joseon Dynasty during medieval times, Kingdom follows Crown Prince Lee Chang who, in the midst of an investigation into political conspiracies, encounters a most unusual plague. Netflix has already aired two season of the series, along with a special anime episode entitled Ashin of the North.

Kingdom: The Blood hits PC and mobile platforms on an unspecified date.
