The Game Of Thrones theme is pretty epic, but Kristin Chenoweth’s vocal rendition of the track is mind-blowing. It’s no secret actress Kristin Chenoweth has got a great set of pipes. The Pushing Daisies star got her start in musical theater and has appeared in Broadway productions of shows including You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and Wicked – the first of which earned her a Tony Award. She also had a recurring role as April Rhodes on Glee that saw her blast out covers of Carrie Underwood’s ‘Last Name’ and Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Dreams’ and has released several albums.

One thing people might not know about Kristin Chenoweth is that she’s a massive fan of Game Of Thrones. In late 2018 Chenoweth took part in a Game Of Thrones promo in the lead up to its eighth and final season alongside fellow celebrity super-fans Jimmy Kimmel, Aaron Rodgers and T-Pain. The promo saw Chenoweth sit in the show’s famous Iron Throne and offer her opinion about a Game Of Thrones musical – something that she’s very enthusiastic about, judging by her hilarious off-the-cuff performance of a possible musical number about Cersei Lannister and her love of killing and incest.

That isn’t the first time Kristin Chenoweth and Jimmy Kimmel have come together over their shared love of Game Of Thrones. Back in 2016, Chenoweth appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and gave the talk show host an impromptu operatic performance of the HBO show’s theme song, all the while wielding a sword fit for Jon Snow. Watch the video below to see Chenoweth’s mind-blowing interpretation of the Game Of Thrones theme.

According to Kristin Chenoweth’s social media, performing the Game Of Thrones theme opera-style is something she does as a vocal warm-up before singing performances. Penned by Grammy-nominated composer Ramin Djawadi, the Game Of Thrones opener has been hailed as one of the best TV show theme songs of the 21st century. The orchestral, cello-led theme is moody and evocative in its own right, but there’s no denying Chenoweth’s operatic vocals add a certain something to the song.

Kristin Chenoweth is by no means the only Game Of Thrones fan inspired to create their own take on the show’s theme song. A gaggle of rock stars including Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello and Anthrax’s Scott Ian recently got together with composer Ramin Djawadi and jammed a metal version to celebrate a line of Game Of Thrones-themed Fender guitars. One of the funniest versions out there, however, is by sketch group The Warp Zone who felt compelled to add lyrics like “Wolf folk, dragon mama, smooching siblings, and some d***ess dudes” to the Game Of Thrones theme.
