KUWTK: Why Kendall Jenner’s Modeling Career is Declining

Kendall Jenner has been under fire after she defended her modeling career and work ethic during the Keeping Up With The Kardashians reunion. Her claims of not having anything handed to her rubbed a number of viewers the wrong way and left many blasting the famous family for not acknowledging their privilege.

As the only professional model among the KarJenner sisters, Kendall is often criticized for her rise to the top. Early on during her start as a model, she managed to become one of the highest-paid among top-notch runway and print models like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Cara Delevigne, and Jourdan Dunn. Many have blasted the reality star and accused her of only making it as a model because of her famous family. But during the reunion, Kendall boasted about going to “every single casting and ran all over not only New York City but all over Europe trying to get a job and make my way.” But now fans are convinced that the 818 Tequila owner’s modeling career is on a steady downward spiral.

One critic took to Reddit and claimed that “Kendall’s modeling career is in decline and I think she knows it.” They went on to explain their belief that the family’s name did more harm than good when it came to Kendall’s brand. They compared Kendall’s bookings from the year to her good friend Hailey Bieber. They noted Kendall “had a maximum of 3 campaigns/jobs every month of this year,” while “Hailey had 3 magazine covers and 3 editorial and advertising shoots just last month.” They did a little digging into Kendall’s modeling profile and noticed that she used to be super booked and busy up until 2017. They believe that since then, Kendall’s “recent work is more influencer modeling and endorsements.”

With Kendall being the offspring of momager Kris Jenner, the Redditor thinks her mom recommended that she start venturing out ahead of her modeling career fizzling. “I do think she and Kris realize this and obviously she can’t model forever so she endorsed Estee Lauder, co-founded Moon, started 818 and hosted the Vogue series so they’re definitely being smart,” they added. Others noted the observation and agreed that Kendall’s modeling has appeared to take a dip. But they think it’s because “Kendall just doesn’t want to work as much as before.” Others noted how stressful the modeling life can be for Kendall who has openly admitted to her mental health struggles. “Yeah, she definitely chooses to work less, probably due to her anxiety and stuff,” one Redditor said.

Others explained why Kendall might be so defensive about her modeling career in comparison to her sisters who never really had to work real jobs after their reality TV fame. “I’ve noticed she thinks her sisters have it a lot easier than her, work-wise,” one person said. Another added that Kendall comes off as though she doesn’t think her sisters have real jobs. Considering her years in fashion and now Kendall’s transition into entrepreneurship, she might be showing her family and critics that she’s a much harder worker than she gets credit for. There are many models who continue their careers well into old age. At 25, Kendall has more than enough time before anything associated with her name becomes less marketable.
