A new trailer provides a first look at Danny Trejo’s upcoming horror film The Legend of La Llorona. The new picture, written by Jose Prendes, is the latest spin on the traditional Mexican folktale, previously depicted in titles such as The Curse of La Llorona and La Llorona. The story focuses on a ghostly woman who hunts young families and their children. Trejo, who has previously featured in movies like Heat and From Dusk till Dawn, will star in the new film. He is joined by Autumn Reeser, Antonio Cupo, Nicolas Madrazo, and Zamia Fandiño.

In a newly released trailer from Mongrel Media, viewers are treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming horror movie. Introducing the starring family as they move into their new residence, the quiet coastal area appears almost idyllic by day, before taking an ominous turn. Though welcomed by friendly neighbors, the family quickly seems to become the target of the cursed spirit of Llorona. Helmed by Patricia Harris Seeley, The Legend of La Llorona is set to release on January 7, 2022. This latest iteration of the tale follows a young couple (Reeser and Cupo) and their son (Madrazo), who begin to notice signs of missing children during their visit to Mexico. Quickly becoming hunted by the cursed spirit of Llorona, the couple, with the help of a resourceful taxi driver (Trejo), must search for a way to save their child after he too is taken.
