Warner Bros. Games has shed some light on the initial DLC characters for the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, with a first look at those inspired by The Mandalorian TV series. The soon-to-be-released title is looking to shake things up for the LEGO series of games, introducing things like flashy new-gen graphics and improved LEGO Star Wars shooting mechanics.

LEGO StarWars: The Skywalker Saga aims to encapsulate all nine primary Star Wars films into one massive mega-experience. Previous LEGO Star Wars entries were different in that they typically only focused on one movie or an era-specific trilogy of films. Just like those older games, though, Skywalker Saga is placing a heavy emphasis on gameplay diversity by handing players the reins to a massive selection of iconic characters from the franchise. This freedom of choice means that gamers can take control of all-powerful Jedi masters, legendary bounty hunters who wield firearms and gadgets, crafty droids, and various alien species, each coming with their own unique set of skills and mechanics. In addition to the sprawling list of characters available at launch, it has become customary for the LEGO Star Wars games to make more characters available for purchase post-launch.

In a press release, WB Games has confirmed LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga‘s Character Collection (Season Pass) DLC, which contains multiple individual packs. At launch, The Mandalorian Season 1 and the Solo: A Star Wars Story Character Packs will be available for purchasers of the Character Collection, and also through standalone purchase. The Mandalorian content will feature The Mandalorian himself (accompanied by a non-playable Grogu), Greef Karga, Cara Dune, IG-11, and Kuiil, while the Solo: A Star Wars Story Character Pack will include young Han Solo, young Chewbacca, young Lando Calrissian, Qi’ra, Tobias Beckett and Enfys Nest. Players can also expect characters from The Mandalorian Season 2, Rogue One, The Bad Batch, as well as a Classic Characters Pack and The Trooper Pack, which will all be available in time for Star Wars Day on May 4.

While LEGO Star Wars’ Mandalorian content was previously announced, the full reveal will undoubtedly come as welcome news for fans, as none of the show’s characters listed above have gotten any meaningful video game representation up until this point. Characters like The Mandalorian have become major parts of the Star Wars mythos, so it only makes sense that they should be making an appearance in games. It looks like The Skywalker Saga will be full of Easter eggs and love letters to the franchise, so there’s good reason to believe that this DLC won’t disappoint.

On a less positive note: anyone who has been following news of alleged developer crunch over at TT Games, which reportedly led to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga’s delay, might be raising their eyebrows upon hearing this information on DLC. After all, if those developing the base game are being overworked, major DLC packs, even if they follow a staggered release schedule, could possibly cause additional strain. Hopefully, the LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga team can still deliver an experience worthy of The Mandalorian name without breaking their backs.

LEGO Star Wars: Skywalker Saga will be coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on April 5, 2022.
