The true brilliance of a show like Letterkenny isn’t the inside jokes the characters share or even the powerful story-lines that are placed inside each episode. The real brilliance of the series comes from the different personalities of the main and side characters.

The intellectual gifts each one of them brings to the table leaves fans mesmerized by how sharp and witty their favorite characters are. Each one possessing the timing and control to pull off a joke that strikes the target each and every time. So, just who is the sharpest of the bunch?

10 Jonesy

Jonesy makes the back of the list simply because he sees himself as nothing more than Reilly’s sidekick. He has the intelligence to keep up with the catcalling that the two jocks are known for but lacks the depth that Reilly puts into it. He also lacks the intelligence and talent to be a true leader on the team.

The sad truth is, is if he wasn’t palling around with Reilly, he probably wouldn’t have a personality of his own nor would his talents as a hockey player get him very far.

9 Gail

Seems like every television comedy has to have a sex addict, to somehow incorporate sexual innuendo into everyday conversation. Gail fits this role on Letterkenny like a glove.

As the town’s bartender, her only job seems to be to make Wayne as uncomfortable as possible when it comes to her constantly inferring that the two should sleep together. While she is more intelligent than a Jonesy, she still lacks the intellectual depth to really be seen as a character that has more to offer than the occasional, uncomfortable sex jokes to her patrons at the bar.

8 Stewart

There are sincere moments in moments in Letterkenny that fans truly feel sorry for Stewart. After all, he is an outcast that never seemed to have a shot at fitting in with the other locals of the town.

In fact, even before his reputation as a drug addict, he was still Letterkenny’s residential black sheep. With that said, Stewart doesn’t seem to have the intellectual qualities capable of getting him out of his current rut. Instead, he just keeps spinning his wheels hoping that somehow something will change even while he digs himself into a deeper hole.

7 Coach

Coach is the stereotypical coach one would expect to find on any sport’s team. He is smart enough to draw up a few plays that can help his team win occasionally but, in all retrospect, doesn’t even do that well.

As far as a human being is concerned, Coach is pretty rough around the edges, never seeming to have the intellectual faculties to come up with dialogue that doesn’t involve anything higher than the lowest fruit of insults one could speak of. While he isn’t the dumbest, he definitely isn’t the finest Letterkenny has to offer.

6 Glen

Similar to Coach, Glen is capable of getting by, by just being brazen enough to make people think he is important. He is an evangelist without a clear message, instead, preferring to spout cheesy one-liners ending with a praise Jesus at the end. It does have to be stated that Glen has the best of intentions but just isn’t cut out for making the real change he seeks to instill in others.

Glen’s main problem deals with his inability to strive for something higher than what he is but that might have to do with him believing he can’t.

5 Reilly

Reilly will never be considered the sharpest tool in the shed. Though, by comparison to Jonesy, he might sometimes seem that way. Reilly is full of sharp, funny quips that show there is more to him than just being a dumb jock.

The only thing that doesn’t put him higher on the list is he is just one of many characters on the show that is quick to the draw when it comes to funny, intelligent one-liners. With that said, only a handful of characters on the show are leadership material, Reilly is one.

4 Wayne

Wayne is the toughest guy in the small Ontario town of Letterkenny. He is the leader of the hicks and doesn’t take anything from anyone. He isn’t the smartest character in town but he has a good head on his shoulders and for that, he is respected above everyone else.

His strong sense of right or wrong details a certain level of intelligence as it means he has contemplated and implemented his principles to the point they come naturally to him. While appearing to have a rigid disposition, he has a smart mouth with some cutting opinions of others.

3 Gae

Gae isn’t someone to be messed with. In fact, she has a reputation for being the bad girl in town and isn’t the least bit ashamed of her reputation. In fact, she flaunts it like a badge of honor.

Gae doesn’t like Letterkenny and isn’t afraid to concoct the most elaborate of schemes to stir up trouble if it means it will cause her parents to take her back to the city. Her ability to create a whole host of misfortune upon others leads to the conclusion she is probably one of the smarter characters on the show.

2 Katy

Unlike her brother Wayne, Katy isn’t impaired by a specific moral code. In fact, her moral code consists of getting what she wants when she wants it. If that means bending a few rules she is more than willing to cross that line. With her short, shorts she keeps the jocks in line but this sex appeal is another weapon in her arsenal and one she uses with striking effectiveness.

As a child, she won the Letterkenny Adult Spelling Bee nine years in a row. So, there is definitely more to her than just her attractive figure.

1 Tanis

Tanis is by far the most intelligent person in Letterkenny. This can clearly be seen when one takes into consideration her ability to outmaneuver the other factions in the town. She is a shrewd businesswoman that manages to hide a real concern for her people underneath her thick skin.

She isn’t above burning Letterkenny to the ground if it means proving a point or providing safety for those she cares most about. No character, not even the quick-witted hick Wayne seeks to match wits with her, which should say something about her intellectual prowess.
