Where else have you seen the work of Spartacus star Liam McIntyre? Hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Liam McIntyre’s early acting work consisted of several short films and guest appearances on big Australian series like Rush and Neighbours, with the latter being a famous soap opera that previously gave early roles to actors like Margot Robbie, Guy Pearce and singer Kylie Minogue. McIntyre also played a role in World War 2 miniseries The Pacific in 2010.

Liam McIntyre was later offered the title role on Starz’s Spartacus after original star Andy Whitfield stepped down due to receiving treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which would tragically claim his life in 2011. McIntyre had to quickly bulk up for the part but he was considered a worthy successor to the character, and the show came to an end with Spartacus: War of the Damned in 2013.

Following the end of Spartacus, Liam McIntyre played a supporting role in The Legend Of Hercules, starring Kellan Lutz in the titular role. This was one of two major movies involving the character to come out in 2014, but whereas the Dwayne Johnson fronted Hercules did decent business, The Legend Of Hercules was a flop that received poor reviews and earned a handful of Razzies nods. After appearing in Australian thriller The Killing Field in 2014, McIntyre landed the recurring role of villain Weather Wizard on The CW’s superhero series The Flash.

In 2016 Liam McIntyre loaned his voice to JD Fenix in video game Gears Of War 4. JD is the son of franchise hero Marcus Fenix, and the game was built around the character taking the franchise forwards. JD – and McIntyre – later returned for Gears 5 in 2019, though the character was somewhat sidelined in favor of Kait Diaz as the protagonist. In 2017 the actor played a supporting role alongside Antonio Banderas in the enjoyable action movie Security, which is basically Die Hard in a Mall.

That same year Liam McIntyre also played a major role in Australian medical drama Pulse, which lasted for a single season. In recent years the actor has moved towards voice work, playing Captain Boomerang in bloody adventure Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay and reprising the role for the recent Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. McIntyre’s voice should also be familiar to fans of Star Wars Resistance, where he voiced Commander Pyre. In 2019 the actor played the lead in the poorly received romantic drama See You Soon and 2020 zombie movie The Clearing.
