There have been rumors floating around since the release of the first Life Is Strange game that a live-action show was in the works, and while they have stated it is still going to happen, fans can’t help but imagine what to expect and who will be cast as their beloved characters.

There have been three other games released since the first show announcement, which means there is now an abundance of fascinating and diverse characters that fans have come to love. There’s no saying yet who will be a part of the show, but whoever they cast needs to be capable of bringing these special characters to life.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Ross Butler – Gabe

Alex Chen’s cool older brother, Gabe, seen in Life Is Strange: True Colors, is a character that players easily fall in love with. His outward compassion and silly personality made it a heartwarming reconnection with Alex, but deeper emotions were hidden beneath his multiple layers.

Gabe, like his sister, was struggling with a lot of emotions—guilt, regret, and wanting to be better. He was one character that immediately allowed fans to grow an attachment, which made it that much harder when he was gone. Ross Butler would be a great live-action version of Gabe as he’s already proved his capabilities of playing a character with multiple layers, such as his character Zach in 13 Reasons Why—an attractive, likable character with dark secrets.

Jacob Elordi – Nathan

Nathan is perhaps the most misunderstood and damaged character in the franchise. His backstory is an emotional and dark background that points to all the mental illnesses that affect his behavior in the game. Although he is seen as a bad guy, it’s still easy to sympathize.

What better person to play Nathan than an actor who is very experienced in playing an emotionally scarred and mentally ill character—Jacob Elordi. Jacob played the character Nate in Euphoria, who shows a lot of similarities to Nathan. They both feel pressure to be someone they aren’t, for their parents or others around them. They both show emotional trauma from past situations and are not whole mentally. Jacob would probably do justice to Nathan’s complex character and perfectly portray his unhinged personality.

Anya Taylor-Joy – Victoria

Victoria is another widely misunderstood character, and despite her mean girl persona is a more complex character than that. Even though she continued to antagonize Max and Chloe, and anyone she saw as a threat, she wasn’t as confident as she seemed.

Not only does Anya Taylor-Joy have the perfect appearance to play Victoria—large brown eyes, pursed pink lips, and slender face— but she has a pose and manner to her that is so fitting for the character. Victoria is constantly trying to act arrogant and overly confident in herself, but honestly, she has insecurities that she is overcompensating for.  The Queen’s Gambit star would perfectly portray Victoria’s fake confidence and hidden nerdy side.

Maia Mitchell – Steph

Undoubtedly, Steph is one of the most likable characters in Life Is Strange: True Colors, right up there with Alex. She is the only character from previous games carried over to True Colors, and fans can see her backstory and personality.

As seen in True Colors, Steph is a very bubbly, charismatic character who also proved to be super imaginative and creative with her passion for tabletop games and music. In the bonus episode of True Colors, fans can see more into who Steph is, and it’s clear she is struggling to find herself and figure out what she wants to do. Maia Mitchell looks the part for Steph and plays Callie in The Fosters and Good Trouble, a very similar character, proving she would make an excellent live-action Steph.

Malachi Barton – Daniel

Daniel was one of the unique characters in the franchise because he is one of the only child characters fans see. Because he is so young, his personality is very different from other characters, with a noticeable immaturity and child-like spirit.

Daniel is not only different because he’s so young, but he also has a supernatural ability that allows him to lift and move things telekinetically. This power is a strength and weakness, seeing as it is one of the main reasons he and his brother begin their thrilling journey. Any actor that played Daniel’s live-action version would need to portray his excitability and struggle with complex situations and emotions, which is why Disney star Malachi Barton would be a good fit.

Diego Tinoco – Sean

The main protagonist in Life Is Strange 2. Sean is the nurturing big brother, forced to grow quickly as his father is killed due to injustice. He is an artistic and headstrong individual, with a little bit of that awkward teenage in there.

No matter what choices the player makes, Sean cares for his younger brother under intense circumstances, plus helping him figure out his supernatural abilities. He is undoubtedly the best big brother to Daniel and just a patient and understanding person, in general, to put up with all the racism and mistreatment he went through. The rising Latino actor, Diego Tinoco from On My Block, would be the perfect fit for Sean, but visually and characteristics-wise. He is a more reserved individual but has a charm about them and a compassionate disposition.

Maddie Ziegler – Rachel

Rachel is a talented and talented individual with a shroud of mystery around her and a fiery temper. Because of her stark personality differences to Chloe, they could have one of the best character romances ever.

Rachel plays a big part in both games and proves to be the most complex character of all. There is so much mystery to her backstory, and her unpredictability makes her one of the best characters. Much like Rachel, Maddie Ziegler knows how to work a stage, and she has the right Cali girl appearance to play the perfect Rachel—dirty blonde hair, tan skin, and bright eyes. Maddie has already proved she would be a great fit with her latest role in The Fallout.

Lana Condor – Alex

Alex is the most current protagonist in the franchise and introduced a new supernatural ability. Alex brought a whole new diverse culture and traits to the Life Is Strange universe and her empathy ability made for an emotional rollercoaster.

Alex was a shy but independent individual who was also a talented musician. She could feel others’ emotions and even take their emotions on herself. She had a lot of deeper struggles to cope with, which is why she was standoffish at first and scared to trust people. Lana Condor would play the perfect live-action Alex because she is not only a great actress but a singer as well, known for her role in To All The Boys.

Maya Hawke – Max

Max is the first protagonist fans introduced to in the first game, and she was a shy, geeky, but accepting individual with an affinity for Photography. Unlike her best friend, Chloe, she tried to follow the rules and always do right.

Max was always a special character in the Life Is Strange franchise because she constantly put others before herself. Her supernatural ability allowed her to turn back time and redo situations or fix things that went wrong. She used that power always for other people, trying to help Chloe, Kate, or even Victoria. No matter how many people mistreat her, she still accepts them. Maya Hawke should play the live-action Max, considering she looks the part to a tee. Like Max, Maya’s role, Robin, in Stranger Things was also misunderstood and a bit of an outsider.

Josephine Langford – Chloe

Chloe is the fan-favorite in the franchise, which is obvious from the abundance of incredible Chloe Price cosplays. Whoever played Chloe would have a tall order to fulfill with Chloe’s unique rebel personality and knack to get what she wants.

Chloe is the master of manipulation, and although it’s not supernatural, it became her special ability to get out of tough situations. She has that classic bad girl, rebellious attitude that no one can deny is attractive. Her relationships with Max and Rachel made the game a whole new heartfelt experience. Josephine Langford is an upcoming actress known recently for his role in the After series. She could make a great Chloe with her confident and tough girl persona—all she needs is the proper hairstyle.
