Lizzie McGuire star Jake Thomas recreates his character’s smooth dance moves on TikTok. In 2003, the Disney Channel original series made its way to adapt a teen comedy film, serving as a finale for the beloved television series. Directed by Jim Fall, the film marked the first Disney Channel series to have a theatrical release by Walt Disney Pictures.

Following the debut of Disney+, Disney had announced their plans to reboot Lizzie McGuire on their new streaming platform back in 2019. Along with Hilary Duff being on board to reprise her titular role as Lizzie McGuire, Thomas was also set to return to play as her younger brother, Matt McGuire. This series would have followed other renowned reboots such as Raven’s Home and The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. However, due to creative differences between Disney and Duff, the show was indefinitely halted from moving forward with production.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a recent TikTok video posted by Thomas, he channels the inner spirits of his character through recreating his memorable dance scene from the Lizzie McGuire movie. Using the wedding remix song of “What Dreams Are Made Of” by Brent Morgan, the video begins with the scene of his character head-bobbing and dancing a slowed-down version of shoulder isolations. The video shortly pans to his current-day rendition of replicating the iconic moves while wearing the same white goggles, playfully captioning the video with, “Still got it.”

The TikTok audio has quickly trended on the platform, with many utilizing the sound to showcase different time-lapses in their life, jumping from the past to present time. Thomas, now being 32 years old, has come a long way since the film’s debut over 18 years ago. Since his last appearance on Disney Channel, Thomas has made appearances on several investigative crime series, such as NCIS and CSI: NY. This also wasn’t the first time that Thomas has shared his younger stardom days with fans online, as he went viral on the same platform last year for sharing his hilarious interview from the 2001 Osmosis Jones film premiere.

Although the plans for the reboot of Lizzie McGuire have been scrapped, the door remains open for the possibility of revisiting the beloved teen comedy series again in the future. Previously, Thomas had shared his disappointment with the Lizzie McGuire reboot’s cancellation, as he was excited to reprise his role as an older version of Matt. If anything, the TikTok video demonstrates that Thomas still has his technicolor groove on and continues to carry the soul of his character, paying an homage to the series and the generation of fans who grew up watching the teen sitcom.
