YouTube personality and boxer Logan Paul is known for his many endeavors, but he has always been a proponent of nostalgic Nintendo games. His latest project, in which he has made a tabletop out of old Game Boy Colors, is an ode to this passion. However, it has also drawn criticism from some gamers who are appalled at this use of classic Nintendo hand-held consoles.

Paul’s affinity for Nintendo and Nintendo games is well-known. Prior to his June fight against Floyd Mayweather, Logan Paul wore a rare Charizard Pokémon card in a show of his love for the franchise. He has also been well-known for Pokémon card pack openings on YouTube and celebrating when he has managed to pull rare cards. Even though Paul is very wealthy and has many diverse projects that he is currently working on, it’s endearing to see that one of his oldest passions for gaming hasn’t waned. His latest project is yet another love letter to this passion.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Logan Paul shared a video on Twitter of his new epoxy resin project, allowing him to seal and store unconventional objects inside a clear case. For this project, Paul has filled a large table with 15 classic Nintendo Game Boy Colorss displayed neatly inside. The metal frame of the table is painted red and white to resemble a Pokéball, adding to the Nintendo theme. However, many Twitter users have expressed their shock at Paul destroying pieces of gaming history by dipping the Game Boy Colors in epoxy resin. Others are incredulous at this panic by players, noting that there are millions of Game Boys available for purchase and that Logan Paul only destroyed 15.

Regardless of which side of the argument one falls on, it’s clear that this creation was made out of love and admiration for the Game Boy, and not a desire to destroy. The end product does display these Game Boys quite beautifully, and they will last for far longer preserved in epoxy resin than they would have sitting in an old box or in a landfill.

This nostalgia for games of years is not unique to Jake Paul, but he is hardly the only celebrity celebrating retro gaming. Recently, pop star Christina Aguilera revealed that she and her children still play Mario Kart and Mario Party together, with her naming Wario and Waluigi as some of her favorite Nintendo characters. Perhaps she can commission Logan Paul to build her a piece featuring the two dark Mario characters.
