Warning: This article contains major spoilers from episode 1 of Loki.

Loki has already made its debut on Disney+ and fans are starting to get a sense of who the villains may be. Considering the show is based around the complex Asgardian, there’s a lot of supporting characters who could be considered to be an antagonist in some way or another.

While there are some confirmed (and one debunked) villains for the Marvel Studios series, there are also numerous characters that fans would like to see brought into Loki. These foes will likely play into Loki’s journey thus far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and link to narrative concepts, such as time travel and the Multiverse, which the show is currently exploring.

10 Debunked: Mephisto

In Episode 1 of Loki, great focus was put on a stained glass window, which seemed to depict a devil. Much like they did with WandaVision, fans were quick to speculate that this piece of religious art was depicting the demon Mephisto, who they thought would feature in the show.

However, the director Kate Herron has since debunked this, suggesting that this was supposed to be a scene playing on religious imagery to help portray the devil trickster Loki. The horns of the beast were supposed to emulate the headgear the God of Mischief has been known to wear.

9 Hope To See: Kang The Conquerer

The third installment of the Ant-Man saga will feature the time-traveling villain Kang the Conquerer. While not much is known about the MCU version of the character, it’s clear that his own story could very easily play into the TVA-based Loki plot.

The show has already shown technology from the 31st Century, which is actually Kang’s home time period. Of all the Marvel villains who are set to make their debut in upcoming projects, Kang is the most likely to make a small appearance in Loki first.

8 Confirmed: Alternate Loki

The main villain of the series was confirmed in the first episode and it wasn’t exactly what audiences were expecting. The culprit behind the creation of new time streams and the murder of TVA agents is none other than an alternate version of Loki.

It’s unclear whether this Loki is from the future, the past, or some other reality/time-stream, but they are certainly malicious in their intentions. It’s plausible that this Loki could be one of the alternate iterations from the comics, such as Kid Loki or Lady Loki.

7 Hope To See: Enchantress

The Enchantress has been constantly rumored for an MCU appearance and while the next film based on the God of Thunder is titled Love And Thunder, Amora could be appearing alongside Loki before she turns her dangerous charm on to Thor.

The Enchantress has been a friend and a foe to Loki in the past and it’s possible she could be portrayed as an antagonist here. As a powerful sorcerer, she could be manipulating events to benefit her; perhaps even seeking a greater position of power in the Multiverse.

6 Confirmed: The TVA

It’s easy to imagine that the TVA will be portrayed as villainous throughout the rest of Loki since they have already been trouble for the titular anti-hero. While not currently straight-up evil, there’s definitely room for the organization to shift as Loki progresses.

It’s doubtful that Owen Wilson’s Mobius will be in on any nefarious plans, but it is very plausible that the alternate Loki is actually trying to prevent the crimes of the TVA. Regardless of whether he works alongside them or against them, the TVA looks to play a more dangerous role in the future of the show.

5 Hope To See: Ares

The Greek Pantheon of Deities could be making their way to the MCU in the near future, but Loki might be the best place for one to debut. In the comics, one of the most violent entities from mythology is that of the God of War, Ares and it seems that the character may appear in the show as there are already some potential hints to the character in the trailer.

Loki has previously been shown in the ancient Roman Empire, waiting for Pompeii to be doused in ash. Fans of mythology will know that the Greek and Roman Gods are one and the same, meaning that some time travel shenanigans could reveal Ares as a war-mongering antagonist somewhere in the past.

4 Confirmed: The Time-Keepers

There’s a malevolent force at play in the Time Variance Authority and it’s clear to see that the morally ambiguous Time-Keepers could be responsible for this air of unease. These eternal beings are said to be in full control of the time-stream, making every single decision.

There must be some kind of corruption at play and Loki has already shown great distrust of the three Time-Keepers. Fans can count on seeing these ancient beings in the flesh before the end of the show and it’s almost certain they will be the ones trying to manipulate events they have no business controlling.

3 Hope To See: Beyonder

There’s one major Multiverse war in the comics that Loki might be playing into and that is the Secret Wars. The entity known as the Beyonder was the catalyst for these events, with the villain taking some of the mightiest warriors from across reality and pitting them against one another.

It may be that these time streams are being created so that the Beyonder can grab alternate versions of Earth’s heroes. It would be a really interesting use of the source material to include the Beyonder and would put him on the same level as the likes of the Collector, Ego, and the Grandmaster.

2 Confirmed: Loki

Loki might have been portrayed as nice in some versions of the character, but he is still a villain when it counts. Audiences love to hate the devilish trickster and while he has started to turn over a new leaf there will no doubt be some backstabbing in the Asgardian’s future.

This version of Loki has just come out of his darkest period, having attacked Earth and tried to overthrow his father in Asgard. He has been shown a plausible future in which he redeems his actions, but for the time being it’s hard to discern whether he is now an anti-hero or still a true villain.

1 Hope To See: Maestro

If Loki will be traveling to the past then he will almost certainly also be journeying to the future. One version of the timeline in the comics sees the Hulk become even more intelligent and defeat all of the Avengers. This version of the Green Goliath is known as Maestro.

It would actually be quite a natural path to see Bruce Banner go on now that he has developed into Professor Hulk. It would be an incredible way to allow the comic book story to play out on screen without it having a major impact on the rest of the MCU.
