Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Disney+ Loki.

The Time Variance Authority is on the hunt for Loki Variants and the Disney+ show has already introduced a wide variety of characters from alternate realities. Each timeline has a slightly different variation of the trickster god, resulting in some truly unique costume designs.

While some of these creations are directly out of the comics, others are original to Loki itself. The Variants and their secretive lives are a huge part of the narrative of the series and each one must stand out from the rest. Their costume designs are therefore vitally important to both tell this story but still sell the fact that these are Lokis.

10 Honorable Mention: Alligator Loki

While there’s not a great deal of costume design within this Variant, Alligator Loki just can’t be ignored. It’s a genius move to add an animal version of the character and while there’s no version like this in the comics, it’s plausible that Alligator Loki could be a foe for Throgg.

A small and cute-looking Alligator, this version of Loki wears tiny horns on his head, just to make clear that this really is a Variant. What’s more, the shade of green cleverly matches the types of clothing the Asgardian would usually wear, allowing for the creature to be believable in its role.

9 Champion Loki

Early into the show, Mobius shows off some of the versions of Loki from across the different timelines. Many of these have a blink and they’ll be missed cameo and likely won’t show up again as the big bad. However, Champion Loki is one of the standouts of the group.

Holding a championship cup and looking happy at his victory, this version of the character is an athlete of some kind and wears the gear to match. Possibly part of the Tour De France, the costuming is Asgardian in nature and carries with it Loki’s famous colors, but also feels like it was created on Midgard.

8 TVA Loki

The Loki that fans have become the most used to is the Variant that pulled himself from the timeline before being arrested by the Avengers. Now working with the TVA, this Loki is most commonly seen in the TVA gear, complete with a jacket and shirt look.

While it’s not the most charismatic of attire, it shows the character’s initial allegiances and also creates a great change of pace for Loki, who is used to the Asgardian wear of the other movies. The god manages to pull off the attire quite convincingly and the look will forever be associated with the show.

7 Hulking Loki

Another one of the many Variants in the TVA archives, Hulking Loki appears to be the character affected by Gamma Radiation. Much like the Incredible Hulk, this version of Loki has increased in size and mass and is probably far stronger than the average Loki.

What’s funny about the design is that it mimics how the Hulk transforms but with Loki twists. The normal shorts are replaced with Asgardian wear and this Hulk still has a set of horns on his head. Overall the design is slightly slimmer than the normal Gamma monster.

6 Boastful Loki

It’s easy to imagine Boastful Loki appearing in other Disney+ shows considering the premise of the character. Clearly a hybrid of both Loki and Thor, this Variant has quite a contrasting costume in comparison to the other Variants seen throughout Loki.

With a darker set of gear featuring more Viking influences than most, Boastful Loki comes complete with his own hammer. Much smaller than Mjolnir, fans currently don’t know what the new weapon is called, but is surely lethal in battle when the time comes to harness its power.

5 Viking Loki

Seemingly coming from a plant-based society considering the natural elements in the costuming, Viking Loki is another Variant on the TVA’s database that they have previously captured. The influences in the costume are clearly based on historical examples.

With brown gear, grassy shoulder and knee pads, and some of the largest horns to date, the helmet itself is very Viking in nature. The character is probably a noble warrior and a berzerker in battle, with the costume selling this idea effectively.

4 Kid Loki

One of the most anticipated versions of Loki was that of Kid Loki. A mainstay in the comics, this version of the character has even been a part of the Young Avengers. The version in the show, therefore, had a lot to draw from in terms of the source material.

Looking pretty comic accurate, this Kid Loki had a smaller version of the traditional Loki costuming again complete with the horns. However, these horns were far smaller and pointed up into the air like a crown more than the common headgear seen on a Loki.

3 Classic Loki

The Loki that comic book readers might be most familiar with is that of the Classic Loki. This is the version of the character that fought against the Avengers in their debut and boasts some completely cheesy costuming, complete with garish colors.

The MCU version of this attire definitely makes a great attempt at replicating what’s seen on the page onto the small screen. The bright colors are still there but there’s more of a rugged look to the design. What’s more, these are the most outrageous headpieces to date.

2 Sylvie

Although Sylvie has had quite an impression on fans, there is a theory that she is inspired by Lady Loki and The Enchantress. The costume, therefore, could reflect the influences of both Enchantress and Lady Loki from the source material.

The horns are intact again but a much shorter version and the Asgardian clothing has never looked bolder. This is very much a warrior’s garb, with flowing elements added from the cloak, which gives a mystical effect that the Enchantress would want to convey.

1 Original Loki

Whether it’s The Enchantress, the Classic version of even a Boastful iteration, no one can really beat the original Loki. The trickster from the main timeline has set the trends for what fans can come to expect in terms of costume design in the MCU.

The god has had a number of looks although there are also some consistencies amongst them, including the royal garbs of Asgard which often compare and contrast well with that of Thor’s wardrobe. The costumes have evolved greatly over time, but the same color palette and hard edges are always in use.
