Loki Star Hints Sylvie Will Regret Killing Kang In Season 1 Finale

Sylvie will eventually regret what she did in the Loki finale, Sophia Di Martino says. A variant of Tom Hiddleston’s fan-favorite character, she’s formally introduced at the end of the Marvel Studios show’s second episode. From there, she primarily teamed up with the God of Mischief as they get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the Time Variance Authority.

While their initial relationship was contentious, Loki and Sylvie eventually developed a friendship that turned into a romantic relationship — something that the Loki show only briefly touched upon due to time constraints. Since partnering up, they had been in unison with regard to tackling the TVA and finding the being behind it. But, after discovering He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) and listening to what he had to say about his origins and motivations, they had contradicting read on things. Loki thought that Kang the Conqueror’s variant was telling the truth, but Sylvie, blinded by her rage, wanted nothing but to finish the mission and kill him. In the end, she won, pushing through with murdering He Who Remains after sending Loki back to an alternate TVA.

The Loki show ends with a tease of the ramifications of the death of He Who Remains. Multiple branches of time emerged — some of them already overlapping with each other. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, in the immediate aftermath of He Who Remains’ death, Sylvie still feels justified with what she did. But once the dust settles and she realizes what this means moving forward, she will eventually feel regret for what she did.

“She’s done it and she’s sort of waiting for the relief and the release and something to happen to make her feel a tiny bit better about things. And it just doesn’t come, and she’s left questioning everything. I think [regret] definitely comes at some point. I’m sure it will, because the whole conversation that’s just happened with Loki is almost like a misunderstanding. It’s just a bad bit of communication in a way, and then she’s left with the reality of what she’s done. There’s some big feels.”

When asked initially, Di Martino claimed she’s in the dark about the potential story for Loki season 2. However, her aforementioned comment implies that she at least has a sense of where Sylvie’s character arc is going. While Loki has his work cut out for him as he deals with a TVA that is openly managed by Kang the Conqueror, with the Minutemen still unaware that they, too, are variants, Sylvie’s path is currently unclear. She’s stuck at the Citadel at the End of Time. Sure, she could probably go back to the void and team up with Kid Loki (Jack Veal) and Alligator Loki, but that may not be her inclination.

While the Loki show left the God of Mischief and Sylvie separated after season 1, expect their paths to eventually cross again. Aside from the confirmation that season 2 of the Disney+ series is happening, Marvel Studios has been mum about what and/or when to expect it to release. Regardless, it’s safe to say that whatever happens in it will be integral to the MCU’s multiverse.
