Loop Hero: Best Necromancer Build (Tips, Tricks, & Strategies)

Those who hope to make it very far in Loop Hero must work pretty hard to understand all of the game’s very complicated mechanics. At first, it seems like a very straightforward idle game, but after a few runs it quickly turns into a much more nuanced roguelike with a lot of moving parts. Players will need to determine what cards are the best to keep around, how each tile will interact with the ones around them, and how to defeat all of the game’s different enemies.

One of the biggest choices that players will need to make while playing Loop Hero though is which class they would like to play as. Out of the three that players can choose from at this time, the Necromancer is by far the most complicated to play. Despite this though the Necromancer can also wind up being the most rewarding class for the player to choose by far. This guide shows players the best Necromancer build possible.

Loop Hero: The Best Necromancer Stats and Traits

Once players select the class they want to play as the first thing that they always want to do is determine what stats and traits are going to be most useful for that class. Whereas the player will want to choose stats for the Warrior and Rogue that affect their attacking capabilities, the Necromancer will play a little bit differently. The Necromancer actually summons skeletons to attack enemies for the player rather than attacking those enemies directly. These skeletons become the only way that the player can deal and defend themselves from damage, so they are incredibly important.

This is why when choosing stats in Loop Hero the player should try and focus on those that directly influence their skeletons. The most important of these is probably Skeleton Quality. The higher that this skill is then the more likely better skeletons will spawn. Players will want to get their hands on Skeleton Guards (shield carrying skeletons) when they can as these allies will protect the player whenever they are attacked.

After this, the player will want to also focus some of their stats on both Max Skeleton and Skeleton Level. By increasing the Max Skeleton skill the player can summon more allies to help them fight at the same time. The more skeletons on the screen, then the more chances for enemies to take damage and fewer opportunities for the player to be injured. Skeleton Level on the other hand will increase the damage and defensive capabilities of the player’s skeletons. A great rule of thumb is to try and keep the Skeleton Level number as close to the loop number as possible.

While working on boosting stats there are also traits that the player will want to get as soon as possible to increase their abilities. While traits are typically a secondary concern for the Warrior and Rogue, having the right traits can make or break a Necromancer. Here are the best ones to have equipped:

• Field Practice – This trait is integral to any Necromancer build, and if the player is unable to obtain it they might as well kiss their run goodbye. Basically, every time that the player completes a loop with this equipped their skeletons will receive a level boost. If this is acquired early enough the player can stop focusing on Skeleton Level increasing gear and instead equip things that will boost other important stats.
• Unseen Care – This skill is also just as important to have as it will grant the player’s energy armor a .5% boost every time that they summon a skeleton. Obviously, since skeletons are their primary method of attack, this will happen quite often so players will get a lot of use out of this.
• Laying Down One’s Life – The main point of playing as the Necromancer is that the skeletons are perfect to be used as both attackers and as shields. The issue though is that some enemies can still focus on the player even if there are skeletons onscreen. With this equipped any damage that the player takes will be split between all of the skeletons currently summoned, which can stop the player from taking a huge hit.
• Horde – This isn’t really a necessity, but if the player can get their hands on it they will have a much easier time. Whenever the player starts a new loop with this equipped they will acquire three very strong skeletons added to their team. This is particularly useful when trying to fight a boss.

Loop Hero: How to Set Up The Loop

While making sure that the Necromancer has the right skills and traits equipped, this won’t mean a whole lot if the player doesn’t set up their loop correctly to accentuate their specific stats and abilities. The thing about each class in this game is that all three of them will require the player to set them up in a specific way. The Necromancer in particular will require some interesting choices.

Rather than trying to focus on boosting things like health or defense, the player will instead want to increase their Necromancer’s summoning speed. This can be done by actually boosting the attack speed stat, but it’s pointless to waste a gear slot on increasing this stat. Instead, the player can lay down Forest and Thicket cards on their loop. Forests will grant a 1% boost to attack speed whereas Thickets will grant a 2% boost. If the player lays out several of these on their loop they can increase their speed, and ensure that they constantly have skeletons.

Along with this, these two tiles will also summon Wooden Warriors. The upside to these enemies is that they typically don’t attack something unless that thing attacks them first, which means that the Necromancer won’t take any damage against them. This also means that the player can throw a huge amount of low-level skeletons against these enemies, which will combine with the Unseen Care trait to grant the player a huge amount of Energy Armor.

Another excellent type of card for the player to use is Sand Dune and Desert cards. Desert cards will decrease all creature’s health by .5% and the Sand Dune will decrease them by 1%. These won’t affect skeletons though and will not decrease the Necromancer’s energy armor. This means that the player can use these cards to decrease every enemy they encounter’s maximum number of health with zero disadvantages.

Once players have laid out these cards throughout their loop (and have added in any other types of cards that they deem necessary) there is one other thing that they can do in order to increase their skills considerably. River cards can be taken and placed next to Forests, Thickets, and Deserts anywhere on the map. This will double the features of these cards for the player, which will make them incredibly powerful in the long run. Players should keep in mind that using the River with a Sand Dune will actually create an Oasis though, which will actually decrease their overall speed. This should be used sparingly to avoid that downside.
