The characters within Lord Of The Rings aren’t exactly the most stylish movie characters of all time, but that’s because they dress with a purpose, rather than for aesthetics. However, the characters still manage to have some style, and there is a clear difference in the manner in which they all dress.

Every character has their own unique way of dressing, and while it isn’t a fashion show, there are some that stand out more than others. For some members of the Fellowship, it is clearly all about having as much protection and the ability to carry weapons as possible, however, there are others who manage to style it out and look great doing it.

10 Sam

Sam is one of the bravest characters who is a hard worker and shows tremendous loyalty. However, when it comes to the world of fashion, he’s not the strongest. Sam brings a good look at the start of the movie, but it’s one that he sticks with throughout.

He goes through more than most people do within the trilogy, and that is something that sees his clothes only get dirtier throughout the movies. Which is easy to understand, but it leaves Sam looking like a mess by the end of the story, showing the fight that he goes through.

9 Pippin

Pippin might be the joker of the franchise, but he is one that dresses well too throughout the movies. The Hobbits are always well presented, and that’s the case with Pippin who comes together with a nice shirt and pants throughout the trilogy.

It’s something that helps to make him look sophisticated, and the scarf that he often wears is a nice accessory that helps him to stand out as well, with this being a great detail.

8 Merry

When it comes to fashion, Merry just has the edge on his best friend. While he also wears the green cape with pride, Merry brings slightly more fashion within his own clothes. Like the rest of the Hobbits, he is dressed smartly, but his waistcoat is one that pops out slightly more.

The yellow details are impressive to see and it’s something that really makes Merry stand out in the clothing department. He brings all his clothes together in a slightly better way than Pippin and Sam, and it’s something that suits his personality as he begins to toughen up throughout the story.

7 Gandalf

Gandalf is able to wear some big outfits throughout the trilogy, mixing things up massively by going from the grey colors to the white in the second movie. While his original grey outfit isn’t the most flattering, it’s something that he pulls off well.

However, when he returns as Gandalf The White, his style changes and he looks far more impressive. The white outfit is sleek and suits Gandalf at that point in his life. In a trilogy that is fairly dark, having such a bright color instantly makes Gandalf look pure, as the epitome of good within this world.

6 Frodo

Frodo gets to wear some brilliant outfits within this trilogy, always looking presentable and smart throughout his time in the movies. In The Shire, Frodo is always seen in a shirt, looking cool, but not overly formal. But when he heads out on his adventures, the outfits continue to improve.

Seeing him with the red waistcoat is something that looks brilliant, especially with the green Fellowship cape over the top of it. But his most dazzling outfit is actually the white armor that he wears underneath him which he inherits from Bilbo, with this being a particularly memorable piece of clothing.

5 Boromir

Coming from Gondor, it isn’t a surprise that Boromir has such a regal outfit, but it’s one that stands out and looks brilliant against the rest of the group. He’s obviously dressed for the fight, but with a little class as well, which mainly comes from the long black coat which covers his entire body.

Having such a great piece of clothing that has a lot of small details on it makes him look brilliant. But underneath that is an equally detailed piece of clothing, which is shown on the arms with red and gold patterns, continuing to push the regal element of his clothes.

4 Aragorn

Aragorn brings quite a rugged look to the trilogy, wearing a lot of black throughout the trilogy until his wedding, where his epic outfit really dazzles. He is always dressed in style though with his outfits being sleek, especially as the show develops.

Once he gets to the point of being a true leader, his armor and the great details on the front look regal. But his classic outfit of the black shirt material, with the Fellowship cape behind him, is one that everybody remembers and helps to make him look fantastic.

3 Legolas

Legolas is always dressed in a practical outfit that looks sleek and stylish, with the greens complementing well with his blonde hair, which is always perfectly in place. Legolas looks fantastic with his bow and arrow tightly strapped to his back and his daggers being kept on tight to his side which makes everything work for him.

Legolas is able to look great while he takes down his enemies, and that’s one of the reasons he is such a great character. His outfit at the end of the movie is also one of the best, bringing all of his styles into one with a tremendous outfit.

2 Arwen

Arwen is one of the best dressed characters within Middle Earth. Throughout the trilogy, Arwen wears some amazing dresses, which always help her to appear elegant and classy.

Even when Arwen is out riding, she still manages to look sleek, which proves how great her fashion choices are. It is never clearer than during her wedding to Aragorn when she looks stunning, with the dress being one of the best from the franchise.

1 Elrond

Out of all the main characters, there can be no denying that it is Elrond who brings the greatest style to Middle Earth. The Elves within themselves are very classy and sophisticated, and they always dress with a true purpose. However, Elrond always presents himself in such a regal manner.

With the long robes being a staple for him, Elrond absolutely knows how to make himself look appropriate, yet stylish at the same time. Add in the fact that Elrond typically has some jewelry as well with his head garment, and he is always able to pop out of a crowd.
