On Love During Lockup, Tai Simpson is conducting an array of romances with prison inmates, and she’s opening up about why she prefers to date men who are behind bars. On the new Love After Lockup spin-off’s premiere season, Tai is the only one on the show who is involved with more than one man who’s in jail. Tai lets viewers know how she meets inmates and how she enjoys her flirty romances. According to Tai, it’s “easy” to date someone who’s in jail, compared to someone she can spend time with in real life. Tai loves the fantasies she has about each of her prison love interests.

Tai has no shame about professing her love for inmates. She introduced viewers to her long-distance romances with BeeBee and Hottie, with Hottie being her favorite. Tai is a Love During Lockup cast member who is a regular on the online prison dating portals. She takes time out of her day to vet potential new spouses. On the show, Tai confessed to finding it much easier to date someone who’s in jail than a man she can actually be with in person.

While appearing on The True 100, Tai explained why she feels affection for men in prison. “I started to enjoy dating inmates when I was living in Atlanta, and I didn’t even realize that it was because they were inmates,” she shared. She stated that she had been at a “functionally depressing” point in her life when she started using the dating app, Plenty of Fish. Tai started to prefer online dating “because I could be who I wanted to be,” she admitted. “I’m posting old pictures. I’m skinny,” she said. Her experiences on Plenty of Fish eventually led her to virtually connect with inmates. “I think the reason why I was meeting so many dudes in jail at that time, mainly was because I wasn’t trying to come and they didn’t want me to come because they were too far,” Tai explained.

With the relationships being strictly long-distance and phone-based, Tai started to prefer that type of relationship dynamic. “So it was just like really easy just to be a companion,” Tai said. “And I needed at that time I needed to have something to look forward to,” she added. She also remarked that she loves her children and being their mother. However, Tai from Love During Lockup needed romantic attention that she wasn’t getting anywhere else. Tai enjoys dreaming about men in prison, even if she knows that real-life relationships are highly unlikely. “I don’t care what nobody says we also need somebody to call us beautiful in a different manner,” Tai said. She added, “We also need somebody to plan stuff with even if we know it will never happen.”

It’s the intimacy and attention that men in prison give Tai that she enjoys the most. She doesn’t have to be with someone physically to get turned on. The Love During Lockup star prefers dating an incarcerated person rather than the real-life blind date, according to her statements on the show. Viewers saw how disastrous one of her dates was. This proved why Tai is more comfortable dating someone over the phone than in person. Tai is a mortician who may shy away from big social gatherings. There are plenty of men in prison who would love a woman like Tai, and she enjoys exploring all of her options.
