Jessica Batten is dishing on her “weird” encounter with Amber Pike and Matt Barnett on Love Is Blind season 1 and where they all currently stand. Jessica came off as a homewrecker on the show after she made comments to Matt about choosing the wrong girl. With Matt and Amber making it down the altar and remaining a married couple, they weren’t looking forward to bumping into Jessica at the anniversary party two years later. Things got heated during their brief run-in and went “differently” from how Jessica hoped it would go.

The love triangle that became of Matt, Amber, and Jessica made for a juicy season 1. Matt got busy in the pods and hit it off with a few different women. Amber, Jessica, and Lauren “LC” Chamblain were on Matt’s initial list of attractions. But in the end, Amber was the one who walked away as his wife. During the After The Altar special, Matt and Amber faced backlash for their treatment of Jessica. Amber was accused of holding a grudge against Jessica for her past with Matt. Meanwhile, Matt admitted to not being “allowed to” speak to Jessica despite the anniversary gift she brought for the couple.

Following the awkward reunion special encounter, Jessica is opening up about where she stands with Matt and Amber. “I chose to go and I chose to go on my own. I could have brought [my fiancé] Ben — he and I talked about that extensively,” Jessica revealed on Us Weekly’s Here for the Right Reasons podcast. Noting how glad she is that she ended up going alone, “I wanted to walk into that room of people, you know, standing on my own two feet,” she explained. But when she approached Matt to give him an anniversary gift, he snubbed her. Jessica was hoping to make peace with the married pair,  “But as you see, it plays out a little bit differently than that,” she admitted. When it came to her “weird” encounter with Matt and Amber during the honeymoon after the pod dating experience, Jessica says Matt “was not the person that I dated and felt a lot of feelings for.”

While Matt and Amber got married and made it as a couple, during the honeymoon, Jessica felt there “was a totally different dynamic between the two of them, which I was reconciling in my brain,” she said. Jessica had it hard during season 1. She became a villain among viewers for her attempt at getting Matt for herself. Once she appeared for the reunion special, Jessica had to deal with Matt walking away from her and Amber snubbing her. Amber felt like Jessica tried to break up her engagement with Matt and vowed to never speak to her. Even when Matt let her know that Jessica got them an anniversary gift, Amber said she didn’t want it. Jessica wiped the tears from her eyes and it’s a good thing she had someone waiting for her at home.

Jessica was among the many who walked away still single after Love Is Blind season 1. She did get engaged to Mark Cuevas but following cheating allegations, Mark ended up briefly dating LC before moving on with his current fiancée who has since welcomed their first child together. As season 2 makes headlines, Jessica is opening up about her post-show experience and the enemies she walked away with. She put on a strong front for the reunion special and she needed it after going home with the Tiffany wine glasses she tried to give Matt and Amber.
