Love Is Blind’s Amber Pike Had Plastic Surgery Before Netflix Show

While Love is Blind may not be based on appearances, contestant Amber Pike revealed that she had cosmetic surgery before starring on the show. The Netflix original, which premiered on February 13, removes the physical appearance element from dating by having singles speed date in fully dark pods. From there, they form connections to one another based solely on who the other person is rather than how they look.

Instead of just beginning a relationship, though, they must become engaged before seeing what the other person looks like. Pike, who paired with Matt Barnett, is one of the standout contestants from the series. The 27-year-old Georgia native’s bold personality and openness about her personal and financial struggles are captivating for viewers, as well as those she is dating in the dark. Barnett and Pike became one of the six Love is Blind couples to get engaged and meet face-to-face in a lit room.

Because of her success on the show, many fans have followed Pike on her social media accounts to keep up with her outside of the series. Maintaining an active presence on Instagram in particular, Pike’s consistent replies to fans revealed that she had cosmetic work done prior to going on the show. In a profile by Reality Tidbit, the comments she has left under photos are compiled and shown with before-and-after pictures that imply she had a breast augmentation. While she has openly acknowledged having work done – even providing the name of her plastic surgeon – Pike has not outright made her own before-and-after post explaining what she had done or why. However, she is cautious with encouraging her followers to get any cosmetic procedures without researching what would be the best type of implants for themselves. Writing in an Instagram comment, Pike said:

“…I personally chose all the options I could to make them look and feel as natural as possible for my body type and I’ve certainly never had any complaints, but more importantly they made me feel more comfortable and I am extremely happy with them.”

Being uncomfortable and unhappy with herself is something else that Pike is open about discussing in her Instagram comments. After viewers found out about her breast augmentation, many were critical of her financial responsibly after she had revealed her $20,000 student loan debt on the show as well as her seeming lack of a job. However, she also cleared this up in a post and comment thread on February 24 that explained she dropped out of college after becoming depressed following an abortion and was resolving legal issues regarding an injury at work. Still, people were critical of her seemingly flippant views on money and she said in a comment, “I bought and paid for [my implants] myself while I was still in school, long before any of this was an issue. Not sorry.”

Pike’s decision to have cosmetic surgery prior to appearing on Love is Blind seems to be unrelated to the show itself and likely would have gone unnoticed had she not confirmed it on social media. Unlike other reality television personalities who get cosmetic work done after their series, Pike does not seem to have factored her public appearance into the equation. Besides, on dating show where her appearance is not immediately being considered, why would she alter her looks just for that?
