Lupin’s biggest unanswered questions after Part 2. The French Netflix series picked up where Part 1 left off. After Raoul was kidnapped by Leonard to lure Assane Diop (Omar Sy) to him, the master of disguises and heists wound up working with Detective Guedira to get his son back. With Assane still working toward taking down Hubert Pellegrini for framing his father all those years ago, Lupin Part 2 finally offers some closure to the story that started it all.

The five-episode Part 2 was a lot more action-packed as it transitioned between the past, back to when Assane first started stealing specifically, and the present day. While Pellegrini was finally on to what Assane was attempting to do, the rich criminal was still thwarted by him at every turn, with Assane not only outsmarting him, but planning his downfall far enough in advance that nothing Pellegrini could do would derail his plans.

Assane was able to pull a confession out of Pellegrini, but he had to go on the run after everything transpired. With Lupin Part 2 ending in a way that left things open for the future of the series, here are the biggest unanswered questions left behind after the Part 2 finale.

Where Will Assane Diop Go Next?

After pulling off his final heist and getting Pellegrini to confess to the framing of his father and a plethora of other crimes, Assane had to disappear from Paris because the police were chasing him. While Assane could probably go anywhere in the world, it’ll probably be easier for him for now if he hopped a train and traveled to another part of France or to any of its surrounding countries. Assane could go to Italy, in which Lupin Part 3 could pull from Maurice Leblanc’s “The Countess of Cagliostro.” It’s hard to say where Assane will actually go because there are several aspects of his backstory that remain a mystery. Will he seek out relatives living elsewhere or will he start over somewhere no one knows his identity? It’s all up in the air for now, but then that’s always been a part of the allure of Lupin

Will Hubert Pellegrini Stay In Prison?

Over the course of Lupin’s ten episodes, Pellegrini has brought out his biggest weapons — money, power, and influence. It seemed like he had everyone in his pockets, from police chief Dumont to high-ranking politicians. He could get out of nearly everything, even after ex-wife Anne outed him and had him arrested the first time. While Assane finally got his revenge, with Pellegrini confessing to framing Babakar Diop, as well as being responsible for his and Fabienne Beriot’s deaths, there’s still a chance he could get out of prison eventually. Yes, Dumont is also out of the way and Assane was incredibly thorough with his plans, but Pellegrini has deep pockets and connections. Here’s hoping that he gets his just desserts when he is finally tried and that Babakar gets the justice he never got in life.

What Will Benjamin Do After His Store Was Discovered?

While Assane is used to being on the run, dodging police and using disguises to get away and pull off heists, best friend Benjamin is not so lucky. Now that his antiques shop has been found and it’s been revealed that he’s been aiding Assane, there is the question of what he will do next and whether he will face any consequences. Benjamin’s business was his primary source of income and it’s doubtful that the police will so easily let it go during their investigation. They’ve already confiscated a lot of his stuff, which means Benjamin might have to lay low for a little while longer. What he will get up to afterward is a mystery, especially now that his association with Assane is no longer a secret. Will Benjamin find another job? Will he have to hide out for a while or even leave Paris? The police finding out about his store certainly didn’t help his business, that’s for sure.

Will Guedira Continue Looking For Clues To Find Assane?

Mirroring Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin stories, Guedira became the Ganimard to Assane’s Lupin. In the books, Ganimard is an inspector who was always finding clues of Lupin’s schemes. Lupin Part 2 developed Guedira and Assane’s relationship, turning them from enemies to reluctant allies. But now that Pellegrini was officially caught, what will Guedira get up to next? The detective is curious and seemed to enjoy solving the mystery of Assane’s plans despite not initially being believed by his colleagues. It’s possible Guedira isn’t done trying to find out what Assane will get up to next. By comparison to his other police work, figuring out Assane’s schemes has likely been a highlight in Guedira’s career, especially considering how he’s also an Arsène Lupin fan. Now that Assane’s going on the run, Guedira may be the only person who could actually find out where he’s going and what he’ll get up to. All he has to do is search for clues.

Will Raoul Start Pulling Off Heists Like Assane?

Thanks to Assane gifting him Leblanc’s books, Raoul has become a Lupin fan over the course of Part 1 and Part 2 of the series. The last book Assane gave his son involved the gentleman burglar and Herlock Sholmes, which he seemed very into. And while Raoul may not know all the details regarding his father’s work and how he’s been integrating Lupin’s plans into his own, it’s possible the teen has got enough material and inspiration to pull off his own mini heists to start. After all, Raoul is around Assane’s age when he begins stealing and coming up with ways to successfully pull off various schemes. At the very least, it would be interesting if Raoul began experimenting with certain plots from his father’s playbook in Lupin Part 3.

What Will Become Of Juliette Pellegrini’s Foundation?

Assane came back into Juliette’s orbit in Lupin Part 2, appealing to her emotionally in a bid to advance his plans for taking down her father. However, Juliette wasn’t aware that Hubert was trying to steal money from the Pellegrini Foundation, attempting to funnel the donations to the Canary Islands during the charity concert. Juliette is deeply passionate about the foundation, but it’s hard to tell whether it will continue after Hubert’s confession and subsequent arrest. The fact that the big reveal of her father’s crimes happened during the charity’s event might hurt the foundation in the future. Perhaps some people will distance themselves from it because of Hubert’s actions and the (likely bad) publicity his arrest will surely attract in the aftermath.

Is There Still Hope For Assane & Claire?

While Claire did go to Pellegrini for help, Assane was only momentarily annoyed by this because he knew she did it out of worry for Raoul’s safety. His and Claire’s relationship was pretty strained in Lupin Part 2 because of everything that had happened. Raoul’s kidnapping was merely the final straw that seemed to permanently sever the connection between them. That is, until the end of Lupin Part 2 revealed that Claire was willing to go see Assane off before he departed Paris for a while. During the exchange, Claire refused to believe that Assane was causing her and Raoul problems, claiming she didn’t care about all of that and that she doesn’t want to lose him. That, if nothing else, suggests that the fire hasn’t been entirely extinguished in the pair’s relationship and they might be able to rekindle their romance in the future. Whether that will actually happen in a potential Lupin Part 3 remains to be seen, but all hope is not yet lost.
