Madelyn Cline’s Movie & TV Roles: Where You Know The Stranger Things Star

Which other movies and TV shows has Stranger Things actor Madelyn Cline appeared in? Stranger Things season 2 introduced a new face with Madelyn Cline’s character Tina – a Hawkins High School student and member of Carol Perkins’ (Chelsea Talmadge) popular girl clique. Tina was the girl who hosted a party in the second season’s pop culture reference-packed Halloween episode “Trick Or Treat, Freak” in which she dressed up as pop star Madonna. Tina also appeared in Stranger Things’ season 2 opener “MADMAX” ogling Hawkins High newcomer Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) with her friends.

Stranger Things is far from Madelyn Cline’s first gig, however. Her first role was the 2009 short Milites Christi and she made her feature film debut two years later playing Maya Smith in suspense drama 23rd Psalm: Redemption. Her career picked up in 2016 when she played the daughter of Saw movie franchise star Shawnee Smith’s character in comedy film Savannah Sunrise and had a role as Grace Alexander in ABC pilot The Jury, which was not picked up to series. That same year she also nabbed a recurring role as head cheerleader Taylor Watts in HBO comedy series Vice Principals.

Shortly before playing Tina in Stranger Things, Madelyn Cline had a three-episode stint in season 4 of The CW supernatural drama The Originals playing a witch named Jessica. In the years following her Stranger Things appearance, Cline added several feature films to her résumé with roles in the GLAAD Award-winning biographical drama Boy Erased, indie horror The Giant and coming-of-age thriller What Breaks The Ice.

Up until recently, Madelyn Cline’s career was characterized by smaller parts in movies and TV shows but she landed her breakout role in Netflix’s hit show Outer Banks. Set in coastal North Carolina, the show follows the conflict between two groups of teenagers – the wealthy Kooks and the working-class Pogues – and sees Cline play Sarah Cameron, the rebellious daughter of a local businessman who falls in love with rival group ringleader John B (Chase Stokes).

Thanks to her Outer Banks role, it looks like the Stranger Things star’s career is on the rise. In 2021, Cline appeared alongside Naomi Watts and Frank Grillo in The Purge director James DeMonaco’s comedy-drama film This Is The Night and was recently cast in upcoming murder mystery Knives Out 2 – the sequel to director Rian Johnson’s Oscar-nominated 2019 film Knives Out. Outer Banks was also recently renewed for a third season, so fans of the Netflix show can expect to see Madelyn Cline reprising her role as Sarah Cameron in the not-too-distant future too.
