What are the chances of a Malcolm In The Middle reunion series or movie actually happening? Malcolm In The Middle is a sitcom that debuted in 2000, revolving around the title character and his extremely odd family. Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) is a boy whose life is changed when he tests at genius level, but he still has to cope with his scary mother Lois (Jane Kaczmarek), dimwitted father Hal (Bryan Cranston) and his three brothers.

The show was praised for its sharp writing and comic performances, though its ratings steadily dipped with each passing season. Malcolm In The Middle came to an end in 2006 after seven seasons but it’s still remembered fondly. It was also one of Bryan Cranston’s first major roles before landing his most iconic part with Breaking Bad. There’s been talk over the years of a Malcolm In The Middle reunion series, with Cranston and Kaczmarek once reuniting for a short skit in 2013 that played into a fan theory that the events of Breaking Bad were all in Hal’s head.

Here’s what we know about a potential Malcolm In The Middle reunion.

Frankie Muniz Is Interested In “Malcolm In The Mid-Life Crisis”

In 2015 Frankie Muniz tweeted he was interested in a reunion show he dubbed Malcolm In The Mid-life Crisis, which would catch up with the family years after the show ended. He also admitted he was simply gauging interest in the idea, but it doesn’t seem any serious reunion talks were spawned from this.

Bryan Cranston Says A Malcolm In The Middle Film Has Been Discussed

In a 2016 Reddit AMA session, Bryan Cranston said that talk of the cast reuniting for a Malcolm In The Middle movie had taken place. That said, he admitted he didn’t know if or when it would happen, and while he’s repeatedly stated he’s up for a reunion of some kind, it would have to be for the right reasons.

A Malcolm In The Middle Reunion May Not Happen

While Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston seem game for a Malcolm In The Middle reunion, there are currently no signs of one happening. A movie seems more likely than a TV series as its less of a commitment, but if it did move ahead there’s also the issue of key cast members like Justin Berfield and Erik Per Sullivan – who played Malcolm’s brothers Reese and Dewey – retiring from acting many years ago. A Malcolm In The Middle reunion could be a lot of fun, but the odds of one moving forward don’t look great right now.
