Mandy Patinkin Reacts To Inigo Montoya Impression In TikTok Video

The Princess Bride star Mandy Patinkin reacts to a fan’s impression of his iconic character Inigo Montaya’s memorable declaration in a duetted TikTok clip. Patinkin starred as the vengeful fencing master alongside Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, André the Giant, and Wallace Shawn in the 1987 fantasy romance. The cult film was inducted into the National Film Registry after being deemed a film of cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance.

An iconic piece of cinematic history that has spawned many pieces of Princess Bride merchandise and references in other pieces of media, Inigo’s well-rehearsed declaration of vengeance, “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die,” is one of the film’s many memorable lines, and Patinkin has reacted to one fan’s impromptu impression of his character.

On his personal TikTok, Patinkin duetted fan “WritingWithJelly” as they lipsynced Inigo’s iconic quote. In WritingWithJelly’s original clip, they stated that they were inspired by the “Bigode Mustache” filter to create their initial clip, leading to them creating the impression. In his duetted TikTok, Patinkin himself added the filter, watching WritingWithJelly’s TikTok before nodding in approval of the impression. This isn’t the first time Patinkin has reacted to a fan online, as the actor previously responded to an emotional fan who expressed why the scene mattered so much to her. In a TikTok clip that went viral, fan Amanda explained after losing her father, the memory of her and her father’s fondness for the film alongside Inigo’s desire to have his own father back meant more to her now than ever before. Patinkin’s son Gideon brought the TikTok to his attention, leading to him responding on Twitter, where he thanked her for her heartfelt clip, confirming that he himself related the scene to the loss of his own father in his own heartfelt response.

The Princess Bride is a cult classic that remains an iconic film passed down through many generations, even without remakes or reboots that the cast resist. Despite initially only having a moderate box office success, its characters live on in the hearts of many, no matter what age they may be.
