In the new single-player, open-world RPG Maneater, players take on the role of a young shark trying to eat, evolve, and climb the food chain to become a fearsome apex predator. One way players can ensure their shark levels up is by finding goodies to consume throughout the map. Finding the right items can improve a player’s specs, giving them both realistic and fantastic abilities and traits to make them nearly indestructible.

As players explore the depths in search of enemies and food, they will encounter several chests in each area of the map. These are Nutrient Caches filled with goodies that can help players upgrade and evolve their shark and fulfill the Maneater 100% accomplishment. There are 14 Nutrient Caches in Dead Horse Lake, the second area players can explore in the game. These Nutrient Caches are fairly easy to locate, denoted on the map by a gray chest. This guide will give the location of all the Nutrient Caches in Dead Horse Lake so players can gain all the possible upgrades.

Nutrient Cache Locations in Dead Horse Lake in Maneater

On the map, each of the 14 Nutrient Caches in Dead Horse Lake are denoted by gray chest symbols. Here, they appear with red markings.

Most of the caches are available on the ocean floor or accessible across the land, but there are a few that appear behind grates that can only be opened by a teen or adult shark. Baby or young sharks can’t cross land as easily without the risk of suffocating, so these players may want to wait to collect the Nutrient Caches that require some time on land until they increase in age and size.

Because Dead Horse Lake has quite a bit of toxic waste to navigate through, there are a few caches that appear in its labyrinths of underwater tunnels. Players may have to do some searching to find those. Thankfully, the Nutrient Caches have a blinking light above them to help them stand out among the pollution and rubble.

Each Nutrient Cache supplies a shark with more XP and nutrients that can be used to evolve. There is also a chance for a cache to include rare nutrients that can help the player evolve their shark into an indestructible megalodon using mutations. The more evolved the shark becomes, the easier time they will have facing enemies and apex predators.

Like the Landmarks and Licence Plate Collections available in each map area, finding all the Nutrient Caches in a map will award players a massive amount of XP in addition to the XP and nutrients players get each time they open a single cache. This will help players level up and upgrade their shark’s abilities at the Grottos.

Maneateris available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.
