Manifest: 10 Questions We Have After The Season 2 Finale

The supernatural drama Manifest has aired on NBC since September 2018, and just finished its second season.

The premise is that a plane went missing after heading back home to the U.S. from Jamaica, with all passengers and crew on board presumed dead. But then five years later, the plane mysteriously reappeared, along with everyone on it. Everyone was alive and well, except the world had gone on for five years without them while they remained as they were when the flight originally took place.

As passengers try to reintegrate into life, they realize they are getting “callings,” including visions and voices in their heads telling them to do certain things or sending vague hints. Every episode raises more questions and none more so than the season 2 finale.

10 How Did Zeke Recover?

After the discovery of a Death Date for the passengers that suggested they only live for as long as they were mysteriously gone, Zeke realizes he only has one year to live since he went missing in the mountains for that length of time. As his Death Date approaches, he begins to apparently suffer from frostbite.

While his fate seems locked, he musters his strength to make his last act saving the life of his new wife’s nephew. But then a beam of light resurrects him from the dead. What was that all about? And more importantly, will he stay alive and well?

9 What Will Happen With Saanvi?

Saanvi has been going through a rough time. Desperate to find a cure and save Zeke as well as figure out a way to get rid of the callings, she furiously conducts medical research, even resorting to testing on herself.

But then her research gets stolen, she gets fired from her job, and she ends up accidentally killing the Major. Will she ever recover from this?

8 What Will Happen With Vance?

Vance has been quietly living in the shadows with others unaware that he actually survived the brutal attack. Saanvi ended up telling the Major he was still alive, but that doesn’t really matter much now that the Major is dead. Did the Major tell anyone else, however, before perishing?

Vance has been working the sidelines and represents the group’s best hope at figuring out what goes on. We expect to see a lot more of him in season three.

7 What Will Be The Fallout Of The Major’s Death?

As mentioned, while trying to threaten the Major with revealing the truth, Saanvi purposely put her into anaphylactic shock, promising to inject her with the antidote only once she told her what she wanted to know.

But in a struggle, the Major knocked the vial out of Saanvi’s hand and it went crashing to the ground. The Major was a, well, major player in whatever sinister work the government organization is doing to try and weaponize the skills of the returned. What will happen now that she’s gone and will anyone be suspicious of her death?

6 Who Will Be The New Villain?

With the Major gone, the show will need a new villain. Who could it be? The Major was obviously working with a larger group and she must have had a number-two in command. Who is that person and how will they play into the next season?

We also need to see more about what exactly they’re up to. We know now that they aren’t trying to cure or even just simply understand the callings but they want to be able to use them as weapons.

5 Will Jared Ever Get Over Michaela?

Poor Jared. First, his declaration of love backfires and Michaela wants nothing to do with him for hurting her best friend. Then she gets together with a random returned guy and loses all trust in Jared only to realize he was working an undercover operation to help her all along.

He fully redeems himself and proves a perfect companion, yet the sad look on his face when he realizes Zeke has survived makes us wonder if he will ever get over Michaela.

4 Is The Baby Going To Get Callings?

Remember that Grace was getting callings while she was pregnant with the baby, but no longer seems to have them now that she has given birth? Will the baby start getting callings? Is the baby getting callings now and no one knows since it can’t communicate as such?

It would be interesting to see the baby at 2 or 3 years old starting to suggest that she is seeing or hearing things that could be considered callings.

3 What About That Plane Wing Discovered In Cuba?

The second season ended with a massive cliffhanger. Two fishermen on a boat in Cuba hoisted something up that was blocking their nets. It turned out to be a massive airplane wing. Both men looked at one another in shock as they realized it’s the wing from Flight 828 – the one that reportedly returned not that long ago with all passengers intact.

This will likely be a huge part of the season and cause more people to question if the returned passengers are indeed who they say they are. How could the plane have exploded and landed safely at the same time? Or did that happen in two different worlds?

2 What Happened To The Meth Trio?

We saw the three meth criminals fall through the ice and into the water along with Cal. Zeke jumped in and saved Cal while one of the criminals even tussled with him underwater. But then when the police set two divers to pull out the dead bodies of those three men, there was nothing to be found.

Did they die and will return again like the others? If so, when and where will they pop up? We have a feeling this isn’t the end of their story.

1 Will They Figure Out A Cure For The Death Date?

Zeke’s survival suggests that maybe there is a way to beat the Death Date after all. But they don’t really know how or why Zeke managed to survive. Was it because he followed his presumed last calling and saved someone’s life? Will they all, as Michaela questions, have to go through a similarly crazy situation four years from now in order to survive?

Hopefully Saanvi’s research and Zeke’s condition will prove helpful in figuring things out.
