Chris Williams II, star of season 12 of Married at First Sight, was worried that women only wanted to date him for his money. Now, Williams won’t have that problem anymore–he was recently evicted from his commercial property after his Subway franchise failed.

Chris, an Atlanta-based finance manager, married accountant and realtor Paige Banks on Married at First Sight. In addition to his position as a finance manager, Chris also owned a local Subway franchise. While the experts initially hoped that the pair would bond over their shared faith and desire for a large family, they had an explosive fight the morning after their wedding when Paige revealed that Chris had initiated sex with her and then told her that he was not attracted to her.

As reported by SoapDirt, Chris’ Subway franchise–which was allegedly in trouble soon after it opened and ultimately fell victim to COVID-19 restaurant restrictions–officially went under last year. Although the Subway location has been non-operational for almost a year, the commercial property was finally hit with a court-ordered eviction this week as courts move through a backlog of commercial eviction cases. Local authorities removed the expensive restaurant equipment from the premises and passers-by picked up other discarded items. Photos obtained by SoapDirt show a pile of trash and discarded Subway-branded merchandise in the parking lot in front of the shuttered business.

Additionally, an alleged former employee at Chris’ Subway location came forward to reveal that the store’s financial trouble was primarily Chris’ own fault. The employee alleged that Chris failed to make franchise fee payments, kept the restaurant chronically understaffed, and yelled at employees on the rare occasions that he visited the store. The alleged employee also said that most of the other staffers quit because of Chris’ poor behavior as a boss. The location officially closed in March 2020, approximately six months after it opened.

In addition to financial and legal trouble, Chris has also had to deal with intense social media backlash following his appearance on Married at First Sight. Fans are furious with Chris over his demeaning treatment of Paige and his arrogant attitude and consider him to be the villain of the season. Rumors are circulating that Chris’ ex-fiancée, whom he was still engaged to only weeks before marrying Paige, is currently pregnant with his child. Teasers for upcoming episodes of Married at First Sight show Paige and Chris dealing with a bombshell pregnancy storyline, which indicates that the revelation about Chris’ paternity is soon to come.
