Fans of Married at First Sight are curious about Mindy Shiben’s job and how much she makes, and we’ve found fascinating facts about her job and money matters. Over the course of a multitude of MAFS seasons, there have been some bad husbands, including Mindy’s ex, Zach Justice. In fact, Zach definitely belongs on a list of the worst Married At First Sight husbands. During season 10, Mindy tried her hardest to make things work, but Zach talked in nonsensical circles, did a lot of gaslighting, and then struck up an inappropriate relationship with her friend. There was simply no saving that relationship.

Mindy’s decision to participate in MAFS wasn’t supported by her parents, but her sister stuck by her side. She understood how Mindy felt and what led her to appear on the show. Tragically, Mindy and her sister lost their third sibling, Brittany. She passed away in 2018 and had battled drug addiction. After such a great loss, Mindy knew that she wanted a family. She wanted love and she was tired of waiting for true love to happen. With a hopeful spirit, Mindy went onto the show. She was determined to give her all to the entire Married At First Sight experience.

Though the relationship with Zach didn’t work out, Mindy’s experience on the show did pay off in other ways. Since the show ended, her life has changed drastically. While she was single and living in the Washington D.C. area, Mindy turned her past experience as a competitive ice skater into a career as an ice skating instructor and coach. She said she loved helping young people explore their talents and become the best versions of themselves. This makes sense, as prior to becoming an ice skating instructor, Mindy served in the U.S. Air Force. She enlisted in the Air Force immediately following her high school graduation in 2003.

After her public divorce from Zach (which sparked an Instagram war), Mindy decided to move to Mexico. She fell in love with her anonymity there. No one knew who she was, so she felt like she could make an entirely fresh start. She was able to start over, with very positive results.

In Mexico, Mindy works as an ESL teacher (English as a Second Language) and she loves it. She also loves the lower cost of living. Her monthly rent is reportedly around 1,800 pesos, or just over $900 USD. Teaching English in Mexico usually pays between $500 and $1000 per month, as per Goverseas. That means that she may be earning up to $12,000 per year from her teaching gig.

After the truly dramatic and emotionally exhausting experience of losing her sister (and trying to make her Married at First Sight marriage to Zach work), it seems like Mindy is opting for a much simpler approach. She’s saying goodbye to expensive brunches and social pressures. She is saying hello to self-care and a fresh and fun lifestyle.
